Walmart has announced a new partnership with Burger King, providing its Walmart+ members with exclusive meal discounts.
The initiative is part of Walmart's ongoing strategy to enhance its membership offerings and compete more effectively with Amazon Prime.
Walmart+ Members to Receive Daily Discounts
As of Thursday, August 22, Walmart+ members can enjoy a 25% discount on digital orders placed at Burger King every day, along with other exclusive perks, according to USA Today.
The Walmart+ subscription service is available at a monthly fee of $12.95 or an annual fee of $98. In comparison, Amazon Prime charges $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Walmart's program offers several benefits, including free shipping on all orders with no minimum purchase requirement, free delivery from stores, and access to Paramount+ streaming services.
Walmart+ also provides discounts on gas and travel, early access to special offers, and the convenience of making returns from home.
Walmart's new dining benefit will allow members to save both time and money, catering to busy individuals who may find it challenging to manage grocery shopping, meal planning, and cooking.
By linking their Walmart+ membership to a Burger King Royal Perks account through the Burger King app or website, members can access these new benefits. Once linked, the discount can be applied to orders placed through the Burger King app or website.
Walmart+ Adds Whopper Perk in New Burger King Partnership
Starting in September, Walmart+ members will also receive a complimentary Whopper burger every three months with any purchase. This perk is designed to provide additional value to members and is part of Walmart's effort to enhance the overall membership experience.
Per Reuters, the partnership with Burger King is not Walmart's first venture into adding dining benefits for its members. Earlier this year, Walmart announced collaborations with other companies like Expedia and Paramount+, providing members with access to exclusive travel deals and streaming content.
In May, Amazon announced that its US customers could order from Grubhub directly through the Amazon app and website, providing Prime members with no-fee access to Grubhub+ membership. This partnership extends Amazon's reach into the food delivery market and offers Prime members additional convenience.
With these new benefits, Walmart aims to increase the appeal of its membership program and attract more customers. According to reports, Walmart+ currently has around 29 million members, significantly fewer than Amazon Prime's 184 million members. By offering discounts and perks that cater to everyday needs, Walmart hopes to close the gap and build a more robust customer base.
Burger King, on the other hand, sees this partnership as an opportunity to attract more customers to its restaurants, particularly those who may be deterred by rising food prices. By offering a substantial discount and a complimentary Whopper, Burger King hopes to provide added value to customers and encourage repeat business.
