Carlo Ancelotti said in a Real Madrid roster news that Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez could start in their upcoming match against Elche on Tuesday following an impressive performance in their previous game.
Hernandez, who was acquired by Real Madrid in a one-year loan deal with Manchester United, struck twice in their dominating 8-2 win over Deportivo on Saturday. Ancelotti believes that 'Chicharito' is ready to start after scoring his first two goals for the club.
"Chicharito has played in almost all the matches so far. For him, it was important that he score and it's clear that he has more confidence now," Ancelotti said via ESPN FC. "Chicharito is doing well, he feels comfortable on the squad and this club and all of us feel comfortable with him."
Real Madrid roster news indicated that Hernandez could start in favor of Karim Benzema. When asked about the possible change, Ancelotti is confident that Benzema and all his players will understand that they need to make changes regularly to keep them fresh for the entire season.
"I did it with Alvaro Arbeloa on Wednesday and he should understand that it is a rotation and not a punishment," Ancelotti said. "If it is a punishment, I will say. If Karim doesn't play, he will understand why. Benzema played well but I wanted to put in a player who would give us some equilibrium and leave the two fastest players against them."
Meanwhile, Ancelotti was impressed with the way his team played against Deportivo, but he reiterated that they still need to improve on certain aspects of their game, particularly on defense, which, he said, was the main reason why they lost to Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid earlier in the season.
"The result against Deportivo was very good but it could be misleading because we still have to improve certain aspects of our game," Ancelotti said in Real Madrid roster news on IBN Live. "We have the same problem we had last year, but our attacking game is much better. We have to improve in defense but I think we are in better shape than this time last year."
