Los Angeles Lakers roster news & rumors indicated that Jeremy Lin sustained a sprained ankle in practice, which forced him to miss their preseason match against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.
Lakers coach Byron Scott confirmed that Lin hurt his right ankle in practice on Saturday when center Robert Sacre stepped on it during a five-on-five scrimmage. The 26-year-old point guard wanted to play on Sunday, but Scott said that Lin was obviously not 100 percent before the game.
"He probably plays in there Thursday," Scott said of Lin in a Los Angeles Lakers roster news & rumors on ESPN. "But today he was walking a little gingerly and did some more treatment today."
Lin, who was traded to the Lakers from the Houston Rockets this offseason, averaged 7.5 points to go along with 7.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds in their first two preseason matches.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Lakers roster news & rumors also indicated that the Lin-less squad took a humbling 116-75 loss to the Warriors in their preseason match on Sunday night at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Canada.
Stephen Curry torched the Lakers right from the opening period, erupting for 12 points in the first three minutes of the match. Curry's hot shooting helped the Warriors take a commanding 26-point lead, 39-23, after the first period and never looked back from then on to cruise to a 41-point victory.
Curry finished with 25 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds and six assists, while Klay Thompson added 16 points. David Lee chipped in 14 points and six assists, while Marreese Speights racked up 11 points and three rebounds for the Warriors.
Wayne Ellington and Robert Sacre, on the other hand, led the Lakers with 12 points apiece, while Carlos Boozer added 10 points and four rebounds. Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash combined for just nine points on 3-for-18 shooting from the field for the Lakers, who shot just 36.6 percent from the field as a team with no three-pointer.
The Lakers, who are now 1-2 this preseason, will look to bounce back from the loss when they collide with the Utah Jazz on Thursday at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
