The Cleveland Cavaliers are still interested in acquiring Timofey Mozgov according to a recent NBA trade rumors 2014 update, but sources indicated that the Cavs aren't in a rush to tweak their roster again.
Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors said in a recent chat session that the Cavaliers are still high on Mozgov, but the Denver Nuggets appear to be unwilling to let go of the Russian center.
With a Mozgov trade out of the picture at this point, Myron said in the NBA trade rumors 2014 chat session that he doesn't expect Cavaliers general manager David Griffin to aggressively pursuit another rim protector before the start of the season.
Instead, he expects the Cavaliers to be very active on the trade front starting December 15 when most of the players will be eligible to be traded.
"It sounds like GM David Griffin isn't too worried about his rim protection, at least at this point, so I wouldn't expect him to make a move before the start of the season," Myron said in the NBA trade rumors 2014 update. "I think he'd like to get a look at how it all meshes and revisit the idea of tinkering after December 15th, when most players signed in the offseason can be traded."
For now, the Cavaliers will have to rely on a center rotation composed of Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao, Brendan Haywood and rookie Alex Kirk.
The new-look Cavaliers will be tested once again Saturday when they collide with the Miami Heat in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil - a highly anticipated match because it will be LeBron James' first game against his former team.
James will have to carry bigger loads on Saturday as starting point guard Kyrie Irving is not expected to play for the Cavaliers due to a foot injury.
Irving said an interview that he hurt his foot when Anderson Varejao stepped on his foot. According to the All-Star point guard, the incident is a clear proof that they are still getting used to playing with each other.
"We're still getting used to each other," Irving said via ESPN. "LeBron saw me then Andy saw Bron's eyes, so we went to the same position. I was looking dead at LeBron, I don't know what Andy was doing. No, I'm joking, it was just a freaky play that happened."
