Manny Pacquiao Next Fight News: ‘Pacman’ Plans To Pressure, Chase Chris Algieri For 12 Rounds

| By

Assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez said in a Manny Pacquiao next fight news that the Filipino boxing icon is preparing to pressure Chris Algieri from the opening round until the final bell sounds.

Fernandez said in an interview with The Philippine Daily Inquirer that they expect Algieri to run around the ring similar to what he did during his fight with Ruslan Provodnikov, knowing that Pacquiao will dominate him if he decides to stand toe-to-toe with the former pound-for-pound king.

"We are training him for more head movements, more punching combinations and a non-stop assault. We expect a bigger and taller Algieri to run around the ring. We should be ready for that. But, just in case, Algieri decides to mix it up then much better. The fight would end earlier," Fernandez said in a Manny Pacquiao next fight news.

The longtime assistant trainer of Pacquiao said, though, that they will be ready to chase Algieri in case the unbeaten challenger decides not to mix it up against the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion.

"We will employ non-stop pressure. Our fighting congressman [Pacquiao] will chase him wherever he goes. Then try to throw three to five punching combinations to the head and body," Fernandez said.

However, Pacquiao should be in perfect condition in order to pressure Algieri continuously. Fernandez said that Pacquiao has yet to reach his best shape, but he is confident that the 35-year-old will be ready in time for his title defense, especially once Freddie Roach arrives in the Philippines.

"The way I see it, he's 88 percent ready at this stage. It's still a long way to go. My job is to prepare him for a more heavy training when Coach Freddie Roach arrives," Fernandez said in the Manny Pacquiao next fight news.

Pacquiao, who is coming off a unanimous decision win against Timothy Bradley, will defend his WBO welterweight title against Algieri on November 22 at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China.
