Discount grocery store Aldi is planning to hire 13,000 new workers and increase wages to $18 an hour for store employees and $23 an hour for warehouse staff as part of the company's plan to grow its business in the United States.

Aldi Announces Hiring Drive, Wage Increases

Currently, Aldi employs more than 49,000 people. With this new hiring effort, the company hopes to reach over 60,000 workers. The company will be accepting applications during National Hiring Week from September 9-15. They will offer competitive starting pay, good benefits, and opportunities for long-term careers.

According to USA Today, starting wages at Aldi will be $18 per hour for store jobs and $23 per hour for warehouse jobs. These wages will vary depending on the job and market conditions. Employees who work more than 30 hours a week will get health insurance, paid time off, and other benefits.

Aldi's President, Atty McGrath, stated that employees play a key role in giving customers a fast, easy, and affordable shopping experience. McGrath added that Aldi's success comes from being able to find and keep great workers. The company has a strong record of promoting from within, with many assistant store managers and store managers starting out as regular store workers.

Aldi Plans Expansion, Store Acquisitions

Aldi is also expanding its stores. The company plans to open 800 new stores across the US by 2028. This expansion will add more locations in the Northeast and Midwest and enter new areas like Las Vegas. The expansion is expected to cost over $9 billion. CEO Jason Hart said that the new stores will help meet customer demand and benefit communities, according to Chicago Business.

This announcement follows Aldi's recent purchase of Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie, which added about 400 new locations. Aldi will turn most of these stores into its own brand but will keep some under the original names. Aldi is already one of the fastest-growing grocery chains in the country, opening nearly 100 new stores each year. With over 2,000 locations nationwide, Aldi continues to grow quickly.

People interested in working at Aldi can apply during National Hiring Week, and interviews will be given to qualified applicants. Aldi is focused on offering good pay and benefits to support its growing team as it expands across the country.
