Anderson Silva next fight update indicated that "The Spider" is not contented with just returning to the Octagon, but he is also aching to reclaim his title.
In a recent interview, Silva, who has not stepped into the Octagon since sustaining a horrific leg injury during his rematch with Chris Weidman in December last year, said that he will not stop fighting until he reclaims the Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight title.
"Look, besides returning well in 2015, my project in the UFC is only one: I won't stop fighting until I get my title back," the former undisputed middleweight champion said in an Anderson Silva next fight news via MMA Fighting.
Silva's recent statement is a complete opposite of what he said earlier this month. The 39-year-old Brazilian said in an interview with MMA Fighting that he will not go after another world title because he has already etched his name as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, fighters of all time.
"I'm over this thing of being champion, having the title," Silva said earlier this month. "The truth is, there will only be one Ayrton Senna, there will only be one Pele, and there will only be one Anderson Silva, so whoever saw me (as champion), saw me. Who haven't seen me, won't see it. In a way you'll see me (fight again), but not for the belt."
Silva will make his return to the Octagon against Nick Diaz at UFC 183 on January 31. The Brazilian recently admitted that he is still struggling to trust his surgically repaired leg, but a doctor said that Silva will eventually get over the hump.
Dr. Marcio Tannure, the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission medical director, said in an interview with Sherdog that Silva will be 100 percent soon based from the dedication he saw from the MMA superstar in his rehab.
"I was with him when he got hurt in the fight against Weidman, and I followed him through his impressive recovery. Obviously, a fracture like that brings a psychological problem, and only a training routine will make him comfortable again. But he is an amazing athlete and by the way he is training, I believe soon he will be 100 percent again," Tannure said in the Anderson Silva next fight update.
