Kenneth Faried and Greg Monroe were mentioned in recent NBA trade rumors 2014 update with sources saying that both players could be traded before next season's trade deadline.
Faried impressed NBA executives with his recent performance for Team USA in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain where he averaged 12.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, enough for him to be named as the best power forward of the tournament.
Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders reported that Faried has been drawing interest from several teams, including the Toronto Raptors, whose general manager, Masai Ujiri, was responsible for bringing Faried to Denver during the 2011-12 NBA season.
"Last season before the trade deadline, I reported that the Raptors had contacted the Nuggets about a Kenneth Faried trade. This came from a league source, and I was told that Masai Ujiri was interested in acquiring Faried since he is the one who drafted him," Kennedy said in the NBA trade rumors 2014 chat session.
However, Kennedy is unsure if the Nuggets will consider trading Faried again in the upcoming season with the way he played in the FIBA World Cup. And if the Nuggets decide to keep Faried, the 24-year-old is expected to demand for a lucrative deal from Denver.
"I don't know if Denver will be willing to move Faried," Kennedy wrote. "I think he has shown significant progress since then (and looked excellent with Team USA), so they may decide to hold onto him. Yes, that will mean that they have to give him a big payday, but I think he has shown that he's worth it."
Meanwhile, Greg Monroe recently signed a one-year qualifying offer with the Detroit Pistons, but the emerging power forward is still determined to move out of Motor City.
The Pistons might look to trade Monroe before he hits free agency, but the 24-year-old forward has the last say for any move that Detroit is planning to make. But from the looks of it, Kennedy said that Monroe wants out of Detroit.
"Greg Monroe can veto any trade. So it's really not the Pistons' call alone," Kennedy wrote in the NBA trade rumors 2014 update. "He may agree to the deal, in which case it would go through, but that's no guarantee. It does seem like he wants out though, especially with reports coming out that indicate he would've turned down a max offer from Detroit because he wants to play elsewhere."
