Chris Algieri is confident that he'll win in his upcoming showdown against the Filipino champ, confidently saying in a Manny Pacquiao next fight news that he is stronger than the boxing icon.
Algieri, who will face Pacquiao on Nov. 22 at the Venetian Resort in Macau, said in an interview that most people are underestimating him, but in fact, he is stronger than the former pound-for-pound king.
"I'm the bigger man and I believe I'm the stronger man," Algieri said in a Manny Pacquiao next fight news via BoxingScene. "Manny has power but I'm a bigger stronger guy. There's a different between strength and punching power, 2 different things."
Algieri, who holds a perfect 20-0 record with eight knockouts, is coming off a close split decision win against Ruslan Provodnikov in their World Boxing Organization light welterweight title fight in June.
Based on his performance against Provodnikov, most analysts are not sure whether or not he has enough punching power to inflict damage to Pacquiao, but the 30-year-old played down talks about his lack of punching power.
"There's no concern to my power," Algieri said. "I know I'm strong, my opponents know I'm strong. If I had no power like people are trying to say. Ruslan would have run me over. No one's ever been able to do that. I'm a physically strong guy. I know what I bring to the table in terms of power."
Algieri, who is set to earn a career-high $1 million guaranteed fight purse for the fight, said that he will look to silence all his critics and prove his doubters wrong.
The 30-year-old Huntington, New York native said that he is not just looking to win against Pacquiao, but he wants to "dominate" the future Hall of Famer in their upcoming showdown.
"I am not looking for a close fight," Algieri said in another Manny Pacquiao next fight news on Tha Boxing Voice. "I look for a dominant performance. The only close fight I had in my career was against Ruslan and that fight was only close because of the first round. After that it was a dominant performance."
