Floyd Mayweather next fight news indicated that the reigning pound-for-pound king is expecting a convincing win against Marcos Maidana in their rematch on Sept. 13, while also adding that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is better than the Argentine.
Mayweather, who scored a majority decision win in their first showdown on May 3, played down reports suggesting that their first fight was a close bout, saying that he clearly dominated the fight.
"Well, I think nine rounds to three rounds is a shutout," the unbeaten champion said in a Floyd Mayweather next fight news via BoxingScene. "Whoever is on the phone right now I'm pretty sure you can go to YouTube and watch the fight. Just look at the fight. The fight is not close."
And to silence his critics, Mayweather, who will put his unblemished 46-0 record on the line, said that he will go for a knockout win in their rematch to prove that he is way better than Maidana.
"Like I said before, I'm going to go out there and I guess get a knockout, win twelve rounds, and look impressive, but also be exciting," said Mayweather, who will defend his World Boxing Council light middleweight and welterweight titles along with his World Boxing Organization welterweight crown.
The 37-year-old champion also insisted in a Floyd Mayweather next fight interview that another former opponent, Canelo Alvarez, is way better than Maidana. Mayweather said that he won more convincingly against Alvarez, but that doesn't mean that Maidana is better than the 24-year-old Mexican.
"I can make adjustments and I can adapt to any style, whether it's in the first round, the second round," Mayweather said via Fightnews. "Just because I beat Canelo eleven rounds that doesn't mean he's not a better fighter than Maidana. Canelo's by far stronger, and tried to pull a couple dirty tactics but, like I said before, that comes with the territory."
