Nike release dates 2014 updates indicated that the sports apparel company is about to make noise again with the release of sneakers that have been making headlines over the past several weeks.

The new colorway of Kevin Durant's seventh signature sneaker - the KD 7 - has been making waves over the past several weeks and it is expected to get a lot of attention again starting Thursday.

Nike is scheduled to release the "Uprising" edition of the KD 7, which is officially listed as the Hyper Jade/Volt-Black-Photo Blue colorway of the signature shoe, on Thursday, October 16, at 8:00 AM ET in select Nike stores worldwide.

This new sneaker features a jade-based upper part with black and volt hints throughout the shoe. It is finished off with a black midsole and volt ousole.

According to a Nike release dates 2014 statement, the KD 7 "Uprising" was inspired by Durant's rapid rise to stardom since being selected as the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

"It's rare to find an athlete at the top of his or her sport that possesses both genuine humility and a ferocious appetite to consistently outwork the competition," Nike wrote. "Kevin Durant's rise to superstardom parallels the rare weather phenomenon known as sprite lightning, which served as inspiration for the KD7 'Uprising' colorway."

The shoe also served to symbolize the way Durant managed to silence his critics, especially those who said before the he doesn't have the tools to become a superstar in the NBA.

"Growing up in Maryland taught me how to survive and work hard, how to just go out there and believe in yourself," Durant said. "So many people told me I couldn't do it, but when you fall down, you have to get back up and learn."

Like the previous colorways of the KD 7 shoe, this new sneaker also has touches of Durant's love of meteorology as it features an "atmospheric" graphic on the outsole.

Retail price of the KD 7 "Uprising" is set at $150 per pair. Nike release dates 2014 statement also indicated that it will also be available in full family sizing -- $115 for gradeschool sizes, $75 for preschool sizes and $55 for toddler's sizes.

Aside from the latest colorway of Durant's signature shoe, Nike will also release the Air Force 1 shoe in low-top, mid, high-top and boot edition on Thursday for $230, $260, $320, and $340 respectively.
