Soccer International friendly scores indicated that Neymar and Lionel Messi impressed on Tuesday, leading their respective countries to big victories.
Neymar netted four goals to lead Brazil to a 4-0 win against Japan at the Singapore National Stadium, increasing his total goal tally for the Selecao to 40 goals in 58 international appearances.
With his performance on Tuesday, Neymar also moved up to fifth spot in Brazil's all-time scoring list, surpassing Bebeto, who netted 39 goals during his international career for the Selecao.
Neymar also silenced his critics, showing that the broken vertebra that forced him to miss their crucial matches in the 2014 FIFA World Cup is now a thing of the past as he has now scored 13 goals in just 12 international matches this year, according to a Soccer International friendly scores update on ESPN FC.
"I got goose bumps," Neymar said of scoring four goals. "It was a very emotional moment, I felt immense happiness. In my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined something like this. To tell you, I am very happy and grateful to God for all he has done."
The 22-year-old striker said, though, that his teammates should get a lot of credit for his performance, while also adding that he did not score those goals just for personal accolade, but for the glory of their squad.
"I don't know if I have a limit. I just want to help my teammates and the Selecao. I think about helping, it doesn't matter whether I score the goals or my teammates do," Neymar added. "After the first, the second, of course you want to score more, but for the good of the team, not for individualism."
Meanwhile, Neymar's FC Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi also had an outstanding game on Tuesday netting a double to lead Brazil to a 7-0 drubbing of Hong Kong, Soccer International friendly scores update revealed.
Messi made his presence felt in the 66th minute when he scored his first goal, which was followed by another one in the 84th minute. Aside from Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Nicolas Gaitan also scored two goals each for Argentina.
"Argentina always have the obligation to win," Messi said of their win. "We had to take our opponents seriously, despite the gap, and I think we played well and were professional."
