Marvel Comics will soon launched the first issue of the Spider-Gwen series in February 2015. The announcement was made by Nick Lowe, a senior editor at Marvel.

Spider-Gwen tells the new story of Spider-Man from the point of view of Gwen Stacy. This new Marvel Comics series will be handled by Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez. The character Gwen Stacy was first introduced in the "Edge of Spider Verse #2" comic book series.

The upcoming series depicts Gwen Stacy's ongoing struggle as she tries to get accustomed to the life of a costumed superhero. She also has to deal with her father who is incidentally is the Chief of Police. Latour said, "For her father, he didn't give her the great power equals great responsibility speech, but he essentially gave that speech, and now he has to be put to the test." Both father and daughter will have conflicts in their relationship. According to Latour, "Both of these characters will challenge each other's assertions." Stacy's band, the Mary Janes will also be featured in the upcoming series. She left he all-girl band in order to fight crime. Gwen is the band's drummer.

The other part of the team, Robbi Rodriguez describes Spider-Gwen's costume, "I want something very modern, and get in the head space of what Gwen would do if she was in this superhero world."

Dan Slott, another Marvel Comic's senior editor praised the two for their work on the "Edge of Spider-Verse" #2 issue. Slott singled out their depiction of the Gwen Stacy character. He added that Gwen Stacy as "Spider-Man" is one of the reasons the issue is one of his favorites this year.

Gwen Stacy as "Spider-man" in alternate time-line was supposed to be a single story only but Marvel Comic changed its mind when fans started to ask for more stories about her exploits. The comic book company complied and that is why the first issue of the Spider-Gwen series will come out in February 2015.
