Apple Responds to Iphone 6 and 6 Plus Issues: Bendgate Is Out Of Proportion

| By

Apple has released its official statement following the news that spread like wildfire in different social media sites claiming iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are prone to bending. The multi-billion dollar company warned the media not to blow "Bendgate" out of proportion. It even allowed CNBC to film the company's testing facility, revealing how it puts devices through a number of stress tests. The statement was emailed to Business Insider that talked down issues concerning structural concerns with the Company's two new products.

Different reports have surfaced after Apple released its newest iPhone products, complete with photos and videos showing users with bent iPhone 6 Plus devices. Some even claimed that the phones took the shape of their rear ends when they sat with it in their back pockets. It was expected to have hurt Apple's stock, having heard about the flaws in design on Apple's flagship device, as well as other software glitches.

Below is Apple's full statement following the controversy:

"Our iPhones are designed, engineered and manufactured to be both beautiful and sturdy. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus feature a precision engineered unibody enclosure constructed from machining a custom grade of 6,000 series anodized aluminum, which is tempered for extra strength. They also feature stainless steel and titanium inserts to reinforce high stress locations and use the strongest glass in the smartphone industry. We chose these high-quality materials and construction very carefully for their strength and durability. We also perform rigorous tests throughout the entire development cycle including 3-point bending, pressure point cycling, sit, torsion, and user studies. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus meet or exceed all our high quality standards to endure everyday, real life use. With normal use, a bend in iPhone is extremely rare and through our first six days of sale, a total of nine customers have contacted Apple with a bent iPhone 6 Plus. As with any Apple product, if you have questions, please contact Apple."

The company has sold a combination of 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices in the first weekend they are available.
