The Verge reports a Hollywood Reporter post that actor Leonardo DiCaprio is no longer being considered in the upcoming Steve Jobs film. Instead, Christian Bale, who was earlier rejected, is now being seriously considered to play the role of the late Apple co-founder and visionary.
The production of the upcoming Steve Jobs has gone several changes. Initially, the plan was for David Fincher to direct the movie and Christian Bale will assumed the leading role. But last April, Sony Pictures changed its mind and decided to pick Danny Boyle to direct the upcoming Steve Jobs film. With Boyle as the director, Leonardo DiCaprio was chosen for the lead role. Boyle was the director of the "Slumdog Millionaire."
The Hollywood Reporter said that the reason for the earlier change is because of Fincher's supposedly, unreasonable, demand for payment and control in the upcoming Steve Jobs film.
With this recent change, Christian Bale has now returned to the list of possible candidates that may assume the lead role in the upcoming Steve Jobs film. Aside from Bale, some of the actors in the list include Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper and Matt Damon. The Reporter pointed out that Affleck may not be available for the lead role anyway. The same report cited the actor's busy schedule may prevent him from being chosen in the upcoming Steve Jobs film.
Sony Pictures or any other persons working with project have yet to announce their choice. But Bale's return on the list of possible candidates seems to indicate that Sony is very interested in him, playing the lead role. The upcoming Steve Jobs film will be produced by Scott Rudin while the scriptwriter for the film is Aaron Sorkin. The movie is based on Walter Isaacson's biography on Steve Jobs.
The release date for the upcoming Steve Jobs film has yet to be announced. Fans will just have to wait for the official announcement from Sony Pictures as to when the film will finally be shown.
