‘World of Warcraft’ Movie Latest News and Update: It's Now Official, 'Warcraft' Movie Finally To Be Release in 2016; Meet the Casts

| By

Warcraft fans have been patiently waiting for it, since it was announced on Blizzcon 2006. A Warcraft movie is now set to be release in 2016.

Blizzard the developer of the Warcraft game, has so far released very few details with regards to the storyline of this upcoming Warcraft movie. The film is a joint project of Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures. Universal Picture will be in charge of distribution.

At Blizzcon 2013, Blizzard representatives gave a general overview of the Warcraft movie storyline. The upcoming movie is set in Azeroth where Humans and Orcs are fighting their first war against each other. The major roles for this film will be given to Warcraft characters Anduin Lothar and Durotan and a Wikipedia post gave further details. The movie will show the first initial encounter between Humans and Orcs. The film will focus on the point of view of the Human Alliance and Orcish Horde, with regards to the war they are waging.

It was rumored back then that Sam Raimi was supposed to direct this upcoming Warcraft movie; however, probably due to his busy work load, the Director of this movie is Duncan Jones. Later on, Raimi said the real reason he choose not to direct the said film is because much of the pre-production and script he worked on were effectively rejected by Blizzard.

The Warcraft Movie main casts includes Ben Foster who will play the role of Medivh. Travis Fimmel is expected to play the lead role. The two will be joined by Paula Patton, Dominic Copper, Rob Kazinsky, Toby Kebbel, Daniel Wu, Clancy Brown and finally, Burke Duffield.

The Warcraft movie will not be an animated film similar to the ones fans are accustomed to see in the games. Instead, it will be a live action movie. Production started last January and was finished by May this year. Universal Pictures has set the release date for this upcoming movie on March 11, 2016.
