Cleveland Cavaliers Roster Rumors: Ray Allen Leaning Towards Joining LeBron James; Dion Waiters Says Cavs Have Best Backcourt

| By

Cleveland Cavaliers roster rumors update indicated that the free agent guard Ray Allen is leaning towards signing with the Cavs, while Dion Waiters believe that they have the best backcourt in the league.

Sports Talk host Tyler Spence posted on his Twitter account that Allen is not yet ready to announce his decision on whether or not he will continue playing next season.

Spence added, though, that Allen is scheduled to meet with Cavaliers coach David Blatt to discuss a possible deal with sources indicating that the 39-year-old guard will join LeBron James in Cleveland if he decides to play again in the upcoming season.

"Ray Allen is planning on meeting with David Blatt this week or early next week. Has already informed players he's signing with Cavs," Spence posted on his Twitter account.

Allen, who averaged 9.6 points to go along with 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists last season, is also being considered by the San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers, but sources indicated that the 18-year veteran is convinced that he'll have a good shot of winning another title in Cleveland.

Clippers coach Doc Rivers already said that they are not interested in signing Allen anymore, saying that there is no room left in their roster, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Meanwhile, the old rivalry between the Cavaliers and Washington Wizards is expected to be revived next season as Dion Waiters and Bradley Beal traded barbs, Cleveland Cavaliers roster rumors indicated.

Beal said in a recent interview that he and Wizards guard John Wall form the best backcourt in the NBA, but Waiters disagreed, saying that Beal's statement is "nonsense."

"That's nonsense," Waiters said via ESPN. "(Beal is) supposed to say that, but I know deep down, he's not messing with me and Ky (Kyrie Irving). I think me and Ky are the best backcourt, young backcourt. That's all."

Wall and Beal combined for 33.4 points to go along with 8.0 rebounds and 11.1 assists last season, while Irving and Waiters combined for 36.0 points, 8.8 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Waiters also added in the Cleveland Cavaliers roster rumors update that his backcourt partnership with Irving is expected to improve further with entry of veterans in their team, including LeBron James, Kevin Love, Shawn Marion and Mike Miller.
