McDonald's is adding a new item to its menu that will excite fans. The famous McFlurry, a fan favorite because of its smooth texture and mix-ins, will get a mini version for customers who want a smaller version to still enjoy the delight without having leftovers.

The Mini McFlurry will be available at selected locations across the US starting on September 10.

AoL says that the Mini McFlurry will come in various flavors, including the popular Oreo and M&M's flavors. The Kit Kat Banana Split flavor will only be available for a limited time.

McDonald's also decided to improve its McFlurry packaging. The fast food giant is changing plastic McFlurry lids and replacing them with new cups with four flaps that are more environmentally friendly. The regular and the small size of the McFlurry will both come in this new package.

Switching to these four-flap cups is part of McDonald's larger plan to cut down on plastic trash while helping the environment. The new packaging is already being implemented in other countries, like Canada and Indonesia. Now, they will also be provided in the US.

Meanwhile, the S'mores McFlurry, the Orange Cream Pop Shake, and the Big Arch Burger are some of the exciting new menu items that McDonald's Canada has added.

NBC Chicago reports that McDonald's pledges that by 2025, all of its packaging will be renewable, recycled, or certified materials. In line with its goals, McDonald's wants to make a real difference in lowering single-use plastic trash by using these new cups instead of plastic lids.

McDonald's Aims to Have Positive Impact on Our Planet

McDonald's Senior Vice President and Chief Impact Officer for North America, Michael Gonda, stressed how important these changes are. He talked about how the new Mini McFlurry and eco-friendly packing are big steps toward the company's goals and improving the customer experience.

Gonda said, "Packaging updates like this matter. Not only is this a fun new way for our US fans to enjoy the McFlurry; we're also moving one step closer to fulfilling our packaging and waste commitments."

Alongside the Mini McFlurry and new packaging, McDonald's is also extending a limited-time $5 value meal offer to customers that could be a perfect partner to Mini McFlurry.
