Taco Bell is set to discontinue breakfast service at some of its franchise-owned locations starting in October. The decision, part of an effort to streamline menus, allows franchisees to opt out of serving breakfast to focus on other priorities.

While the exact number of affected locations remains undisclosed, Taco Bell confirmed that all 500 company-owned stores will continue to offer breakfast, out of a total of 8,500 locations nationwide.

Taco Bell to End Breakfast Menu at Some Franchise Locations

This change comes as Taco Bell responds to franchisee feedback and aims to give them flexibility in meeting customer preferences.

According to a statement from Taco Bell, giving franchises the choice to discontinue breakfast allows them to better align their offerings with local customer demands, such as focusing on lunch and dinner services. By streamlining their menus, franchisees can prioritize meal options that are more popular in their specific areas.

Taco Bell has emphasized the importance of breakfast to its overall business strategy. In a statement, the company noted that breakfast has been performing well and improving in sales, especially through the second quarter of 2024. Taco Bell's popular breakfast items, including the Breakfast Crunchwraps and Breakfast Burritos, are highlighted as key offerings that have helped drive this growth.

Despite some locations opting out, Taco Bell remains committed to expanding its breakfast menu and improving the quality of its morning offerings. The company is planning to enhance its coffee program and introduce new breakfast items at its company-owned stores, aiming to keep pace with shifting breakfast trends. This move reflects Taco Bell's confidence in its breakfast menu and its ability to attract customers during the morning hours.

According to USA Today, the company also reassured customers that all Taco Bell locations, regardless of their decision on breakfast, will continue to open at 9 a.m. or earlier, serving the rest of their menu.

Taco Bell Expands with New Locations

While Taco Bell's franchisees have been given the option to discontinue breakfast, the company-owned stores will continue to offer the full breakfast menu. This approach allows Taco Bell to maintain a balance between offering a wide range of options and supporting franchisees in making decisions that best suit their local markets.

Customers who are uncertain about whether their local Taco Bell will continue to serve breakfast can check the chain's website for the latest updates. Taco Bell plans to provide a store locator tool to help customers find locations that still offer breakfast.

In other Taco Bell news, construction of a new location is underway in Mansfield. The new restaurant, located on South Main Street, across from an existing KFC, signals Taco Bell's ongoing expansion. The building, currently under construction, is expected to provide Mansfield residents with another convenient option for fast food.

This development marks a return for Taco Bell to the area, as the previous combined KFC-Taco Bell has been operating as a standalone KFC, according to Yahoo.
