Florence's business landscape is expanding with the addition of a new Dollar Tree store on South Irby Street. The new location, which opened recently, fills the space formerly occupied by Rite Aid.

Dollar Tree now operates four stores in the city, joining two other locations on Irby Street and a third in Crossroads Centre, near Magnolia Mall.

Florence Expands Retail Options with New Dollar Tree Store on South Irby Street

Dollar Tree is popular for offering a wide range of products at its standard price point of $1.25.

The store's inventory includes essential items such as bathroom supplies and food, as well as seasonal decorations and craft supplies. Customers can also find occasional items priced between $3 and $5.

The new Dollar Tree store is part of a broader trend of new businesses opening in Florence this year. Notably, Downcountry Grill has recently opened on North Irby Street inside HopeHealth's Medical Plaza, offering breakfast and lunch options.

Additionally, the latest Food Lion store opened in Florence Mall in early August, situated near Ben's bargain outlet, which opened in July, according to Post and Courier.

Upcoming Openings, Redevelopment at Gateway Town Centre

Several more businesses are set to join Florence's growing commercial scene. This fall will see the opening of Jack's Books, the city's only independent bookstore, and a new Bojangles restaurant in downtown Florence. Gateway Town Centre, located in the Brentwood area, is also attracting new retailers, with Dollar Tree being the latest addition.

Gateway Town Centre has seen significant changes and improvements in recent months. The centre, established in 1959, has undergone various updates, including the recent addition of national retailers like Roses Discount Store, Planet Fitness, and an expanded Hibbett Sports.

According to Jax Daily Record, a construction project is underway at 5258 Norwood Avenue to enhance a building's exterior, including a new storefront for a future tenant, with an estimated cost of $350,000.

This redevelopment effort follows the recent acquisition of land by an investor from California, who plans to develop retail stores, self-storage facilities, and affordable housing. The area, which previously housed an indoor mall and other retail spaces, has faced challenges but is now experiencing a revival with new investments and redevelopment projects.

In addition to Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, another chain owned by Dollar Tree, continues to operate in the area. Despite Dollar Tree's recent closures of some Family Dollar stores nationwide, the Gateway site remains active.

The new Dollar Tree store on South Irby Street represents a significant addition to Florence's retail landscape, offering residents more shopping options and contributing to the city's ongoing commercial growth.
