As its lease ends, Saks Fifth Avenue will close its doors at the Fashion Mall at Keystone next month, leaving Indiana without any retailer locations. This closure is part of a major remodeling effort at the mall.

Saks Fifth Avenue Closure Announced

Simon Malls, the parent company, revealed in April that the Saks Fifth Avenue store at Keystone, the brand's sole Indiana location, will shut its doors after its lease concludes in July.

Following the closure, Indiana customers must shop online to access Saks Fifth Avenue's offerings.

A spokesperson for Saks Fifth Avenue shared with The U.S. Sun that while deciding to close a store is always difficult, it was deemed the correct course of action for the business.

They emphasized the company's commitment to handling the closure with consideration, ensuring that all qualified staff will receive proper employment separation packages.

A spokesperson from the company confirmed that the closure was already planned and assured that all employees would be provided with separation packages, per Yahoo News.

According to the company's website, since its founding in 1924, Saks Fifth Avenue has established itself as a premier destination for luxury fashion. The company aims to enable customers to express their style with unique and inspiring fashion choices.

Over the decades, Saks Fifth Avenue has become renowned for its one-of-a-kind shopping experiences, combining a carefully curated selection of fashion items with exceptionally personalized customer service.

The brand emphasizes a blend of digital and in-store experiences. It maintains a strong connection across its 41 stores across the North American network to ensure a seamless shopping journey for all customers.

Meanwhile, Yahoo News noted that Simon Mall unveiled redevelopment plans last week for the Fashion Mall at Keystone, anticipating the upcoming closure of Saks Fifth Avenue.

The plans include enhancements to retail spaces, an expansion of dining options, and a modernized exterior. Additionally, the project will introduce a new building called One Keystone Crossing.

This structure will provide 100,000 square feet of office space across three levels above a retail ground floor. Furthermore, an outdoor plaza is proposed for the mall's southeast corner, where Saks Fifth Avenue currently resides, featuring green spaces adjacent to the surface parking lot.

Patrick Peterman, Simon's Senior Vice President for Mixed-Use Development, explained that the redevelopment aims to solidify the mall's status as the region's top experiential shopping and community gathering spot.

The Fashion Mall at Keystone, home to over 60 brands such as Nordstrom and the Apple Store and 20 dining options, is set to undergo a significant renovation. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2026.

Although a specific start date has not been announced, the redevelopment is expected to commence following the official closure of Saks Fifth Avenue, one of the mall's anchor stores.

The upcoming makeover is a positive development for the mall, promising to refresh and enhance visitors' shopping and dining experience.
