Hooters, a popular sports bar in Wichita Falls, has permanently shut down, according to officials from the store.
The Hooters located on Call Field Road ceased operations on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Employees at the store have confirmed the closure, and the restaurant now appears as "permanently closed" on Google listings.
Hooters Faces Closures Amid Market Pressures
The recent shutdown of the Hooters in Wichita Falls follows a larger trend, as the corporate office has closed 40 locations across the U.S.
TexomasHomepage reported that company representatives explained the closures resulted from current market pressures, leading to the tough choice to close several underperforming locations. They emphasized that the welfare of their employees is a top concern during such closures.
Despite these closures, Hooters is still expanding. The brand has been around for 41 years and is opening new domestic and international restaurants. Additionally, Hooters is launching frozen products in grocery stores and expanding its presence in new markets through company-owned and franchised locations.
Representatives from Hooters expressed their enthusiasm about continuing to serve their customers worldwide in various capacities.
According to Times Record News, the Hooters restaurant in Wichita Falls, which opened in August 2018, occupied the former Logan's Steakhouse on Call Field Road.
Since its opening, the restaurant actively participated in the local community, supporting charities and contributing to various community needs.
Upon its launch, Regional Manager Jay Ellis highlighted that the "world-famous Hooters girls" were central to the brand's appeal. Known for their vibrant performances, such as singing for patrons' birthdays, the Hooters staff added a unique touch to the dining experience.

Hooters, which opened in Clearwater, Florida, in 1983, has become synonymous with wings, burgers, and a distinctive uniform of shorts and tank tops worn by its female servers. The chain's branding and menu have made it a well-recognized name in the casual dining industry.
As reported by The Washington Post, a candlelit vigil was held in Charleston, West Virginia, to mourn the closure of a Hooters location there in February.
Economic Pressures Lead to Restaurant Closures

Mitchell Olsen, a marketing professor focusing on retail at the University of Notre Dame, shared insights with The U.S. Sun on the recent wave of restaurant closures, attributing them partly to inflation.
Olsen explained that rising wages and food costs make it increasingly challenging for restaurants to operate profitably. He noted that as operational costs climb, passing these expenses onto customers through higher menu prices is becoming less feasible.
Consequently, there is a noticeable trend of consumers dining out less frequently. Olsen observed that diners are reconsidering extra purchases, like appetizers, and are generally more hesitant about dining out due to the escalating costs.
This pattern of closures is not isolated to restaurants alone but is part of a broader trend affecting many businesses nationwide.
This year, several pizza restaurants have been forced to close their doors. Pizza Hut has shut down eight locations across two states, causing distress among its loyal customers.
Mod Pizza has also announced the closure of 27 outlets across California in April. A former manager described the situation as disheartening, reflecting the tough circumstances the chain is facing.
Additionally, Pieology Pizzeria, known for its custom-built pizza model, closed two locations in January, adding to the tally of pizza businesses facing challenges.
