Costco has announced that all its stores will close on one particular day soon. The members-only wholesale club will not open its doors this Fourth of July.

Shoppers relying on Costco are advised to plan to avoid inconvenience.

Costco Closed on the Fourth of July

Costco has decided to shut its doors this Fourth of July, continuing its tradition of observing major federal holidays. The store, which remains closed on Memorial Day and Labor Day days, urges customers to plan their holiday shopping, as The U.S. Sun reports.

Costco will shut its doors on Independence Day but remain open the day before. This allows customers to stock up on essentials such as meats for grilling and sweets for backyard barbecues.

Members, who pay $60 annually for access to the store's bulk goods, are encouraged to make their purchases early.

For those who might find themselves needing supplies on the holiday, Costco will resume normal operations on July 5. Therefore, members can still get their bulk items, not on holiday.

Moreover, Mashed revealed that one of the key advantages of working at Costco, especially compared to some similar retailers, is the benefit of paid days off on the Fourth of July and other holidays.

Employees appreciate this perk, which other companies do not always offer in the retail sector. This policy is part of why Costco is often viewed as a more favorable place to work.

While Costco closes on the Fourth of July, Sam's Club will remain open, intensifying the debate over which offers better value and service. This contrasts Sam's strict return policy with complaints about Costco's crowded aisles.

However, reports suggest that Sam's Club is generally quieter, especially mid-week, and often offers superior discounts on products. The U.S. Sun revealed that the commendation for Sam's Club's crowd management and features like Scan & Go convinced some customers to favor it over Costco, underscoring the fierce competition between these wholesale giants.

In related news, WDTN2 reports that Costco operates 28 specialized outlets across the United States known as Costco Business Centers.

These centers cater primarily to business and restaurant operators rather than the typical consumer, offering a unique selection of products.

Unlike standard Costco warehouses, Business Centers stock office supplies, food-service equipment, and resale-ready goods in larger quantities, sometimes sold by the pallet or truckload.

While these centers provide many of the same basic items found in regular Costco stores-such as meats, groceries, and cleaning supplies-the product mix, brands, and sizes differ significantly, with over 70% of items exclusive to the Business Centers.

However, these locations lack many amenities that regular customers might expect. For example, only a few Business Centers offer gas stations and food courts; most do not have pharmacies, tire centers, or other specialized departments.

Despite their limited number and geographical spread, Business Centers are open to all Costco members regardless of membership level. While these centers are less crowded and lack certain retail amenities, they offer a distinct shopping experience that appeals particularly to business-minded customers.
