Local Stores in Topeka Ready for Father's Day
As Father's Day nears, children of all ages in Topeka prepare to celebrate with gifts catering to their dads' hobbies and interests. Rally House manager Katelynn May mentioned that many choose gifts to enhance their dads' personal spaces, like items for a sportsman's man cave.
WIBW 13 reports that local stores are responding by stocking various Father's Day gifts, from customized shirts to new lawnmowers, which are perfect for summer. May noted that while some kids pick toys, others prefer clothing like polos or golf-related items, with fun socks also being a popular choice.
Rally House also caters to dads looking to show off their team spirit with special polos.
According to the Rally House website, families can celebrate dad's favorite team by offering a wide range of officially licensed gear from major sports leagues like the NFL, MLB, and NBA. The store also features unique local merchandise, including t-shirts and accessories that showcase state landmarks and cityscapes, making it a top spot for finding a personalized Father's Day gift.
Meanwhile, Joe Stickles, manager at Waters Hardware, highlighted the popularity of tools as gifts, pointing out that many dads appreciate additions to their tool collection as their tools often get borrowed by family members.

Stickles, a dad and grandpa, suggested that new tools, including power equipment and hand tools, are top picks for Father's Day gifts. However, he cherishes his twin great-granddaughters, received eight months ago, as the ultimate gift, emphasizing the joy of family over material items.
Waters Hardware highlights on its website that it is a family-owned business with roots in 1894 and continues to expand its reach in Kansas and Missouri. Originally a small store in Manchester, Kansas, the company now boasts 19 hardware stores and 12 rental locations.
Acquired by Gerken Rent-All in 2019, Waters Hardware has grown significantly, adding locations such as Euston Hardware and Pack's Hardware.
Dedicated to serving DIY enthusiasts and professional contractors, Waters Hardware provides a comprehensive array of products and expert advice to ensure project success.
Father's Day Spending Nears Record High
With Father's Day approaching, Americans are set to spend nearly $22.4 billion on gifts, as revealed by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics annual survey. This figure slightly trails last year's unprecedented $22.9 billion.
The survey sheds light on spending habits and gifting trends, highlighting a significant gender disparity in how gifts are chosen and given.
Men spend more than women during this holiday, despite women typically shopping for more recipients. About 79% of women buy gifts for a spouse and a father or stepfather, whereas men less frequently buy for a partner.
Although both genders appreciate unique gifts, their priorities differ. Forty-four percent of women prioritize creating memorable experiences with their gifts, compared to 35% of men. Conversely, 29% of men favor convenience in their gift choices, higher than 20% of women, making gift cards a popular option among men.
This Father's Day, while spending falls short of the $33.5 billion allocated for Mother's Day this year, it still reflects a substantial appreciation for fathers and father figures across the country.
