Vera Bradley has announced closing its store inside the Summit Mall in Fairlawn. As Akron Beacon Journal reported, the purveyor of women's bags and accessories will officially shut its doors in Summit County on June 23.

In an email to customers, the retailer expressed gratitude for the community's support and mentioned that the decision to close the Vera Bradley store at Summit Mall was a difficult one, recently made after careful consideration.

According to CSIMarket, an independent financial media outlet, Vera Bradley experienced a sharp decline in revenue in the first quarter of 2024.

The report highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly affected the retail sector, predicting that Vera Bradley Inc. will encounter considerable obstacles in the upcoming quarters.

Adding to its challenges, Vera Bradley had to close a store at the Natick Mall in Massachusetts in December 2022, reflecting the ongoing pressures faced by retail stores during these turbulent times.

Vera Bradley did not disclose a specific reason for closing one of its stores, even as it hosts a semi-annual sale with discounts of up to 50% off certain styles from June 6 through July 10.
