Spencer's ACE Hardware Old Fort threw a big party to mark the opening of its new store at 106 E. Main St on May 15. Although the store started serving the town on March 25, the grand celebration happened this month.

Community Celebrates Spencer's ACE Hardware Grand Opening

Owner Nancy Spencer, her family, and esteemed guests welcomed attendees to the grand opening celebration of Spencer's ACE Hardware Old Fort.

The event, held at 106 E. Main St., gathered representatives from various local entities, including the McDowell Chamber of Commerce, Old Fort, McDowell County, Marion, and other community agencies.

During the festivities, Nancy Spencer highlighted the invaluable contributions of her family, particularly her son Ryan, daughter Sonni, and daughter Jessi, who played pivotal roles in bringing the new store to fruition. The Spencer family, spanning generations, has dedicated themselves to the business, embodying a tradition of service and commitment.

Joining Nancy Spencer and her team were esteemed figures from the McDowell community, including McDowell Chamber of Commerce President Kim Effler, Commission Vice Chairman Tony Brown, County Manager Ashley Wooten, Old Fort Mayor Pro Tem Iretha Hancock, Alderman and Police Chief Melvin Lytle, Alderman Jamie Grindstaff, Alderman and former Mayor Wayne Stafford, Alderwoman Erin Adams, and Chamber Board Chair Danielle Stilwell.

Together, they participated in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, symbolizing a new chapter for Spencer's ACE Hardware in Old Fort.

Located within the former BB&T bank building, the transformed Spencer's ACE Hardware Old Fort now boasts a 6,500-square-foot addition, bringing the total space to 9,500 square feet. With a dedicated team of 10 employees, the store offers small-engine repair services, a whole Stihl mechanic, propane pumping, and a comprehensive inventory of hardware, lawn, and garden supplies.

This new location marks the second store for Spencer's ACE Hardware in Marion, building upon a legacy of over 40 years of service to the community. With its expanded facilities and commitment to customer satisfaction, Spencer's ACE Hardware Old Fort is poised to become a cornerstone of the local community for years to come.
