A Walmart store in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, had to close its doors to shoppers due to a reported act of vandalism.
Surprised customers found a note at the store explaining the situation.
Vandalism Forces Temporary Walmart Closure
A note at the entrance read, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, PA Walmart will be closing at 3:30 today, Wednesday, May 22."
paNOW confirmed a Facebook post stating the closure was necessary to replace a vandalized electrical transformer. No further details were provided about when the vandalism occurred. Employees remained at the store during the closure, monitoring for potential fire hazards due to the electrical damage.
The store hopes to reopen by 8 p.m., but this is not guaranteed. Walmart apologized for any inconvenience to customers.
According to The U.S. Sun, a shopper shared their thoughts on the situation, commenting, "Sorry to hear that!"
Staff stayed inside the building to check for potential fire hazards.
A follow-up Facebook post from the store confirmed the branch reopened the same day.
"PA Walmart is back open until 10 p.m. tonight," the post read. "Thank you for your patience during this unexpected outage."

Walmart's Major Retail Changes Amid Closures
Although this closure was short-lived, Walmart has significantly changed its retail portfolio. Last month, the company shut down all 51 Health Care Centers and virtual care offerings.
This year, Walmart plans to downsize further with more cuts across four states, closing eight stores.
According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification database, layoff notices have been issued in stores nationwide, from California to Maryland.
Business Insider confirmed layoff notices in Wisconsin and California following the closure of four California stores earlier this year, along with closures in Maryland and Ohio. The company cited poor financial performance as the reason for these closures.
One thousand forty-nine employees will be affected in communities such as Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Towson, Maryland; and Columbus, Ohio.
"We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our San Diego and El Cajon stores," said Walmart spokesperson Brian Little in a statement to Business Insider regarding two of the California closures. "We look forward to continuing to serve them at any of our many locations across the area, on Walmart.com, and through delivery to their home or business."
Walmart stated that employees affected by the closures are eligible for transfers to other locations. Despite the closures, the company plans to build or convert over 150 stores in five years.
Additionally, Walmart announced plans to remodel 650 stores across 47 states and Puerto Rico within the next 12 months, creating tens of thousands of jobs to support these projects.
The first new stores under Walmart's latest efforts will open in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia. Both are "Neighborhood Markets" set to open in the spring.
"These new facilities will be designed with sustainability in mind," according to the release. The new stores will feature energy-efficient equipment, lighting, and low-impact refrigerators.
Walmart is also developing affordable EV fast-charging stations nationwide to make them "more convenient and accessible" for shoppers and associates.
