Dalry's beloved shop, Second Time Around, which specializes in upcycled furniture and second-hand items, has announced it will close its doors later this year. Located on New Street, the store has been a fixture in the community for years.

The decision to close was made after the owners determined that maintaining a physical storefront was no longer viable. Despite this, the shop will continue to serve customers until mid-July, giving patrons a final chance to visit and purchase unique items.

Local Shop Owners Announce Closure Plans

Yvonne and Stevie, who juggle other jobs alongside their shop, have decided to close their local store, citing the difficulty of balancing multiple responsibilities. They shared their decision through a heartfelt post on social media, expressing their gratitude for the community's support and the connections made.

"After much thought, we have decided to close. It wasn't an easy decision, but it is right for us," the couple stated. They explained that the demands of keeping the shop running while managing other careers and commitments have become too great.

"The shop 'thing' just isn't feasible for us, as we both work other jobs. Trying to keep the shop open and manage everything else has eventually caught up," they added.

Despite the closure, Yvonne and Stevie are not stepping away from their creative pursuits. They plan to continue upcycling and creating at their own pace, free from the pressures of running the shop. "It's merely time for a change of direction, so I will continue to upcycle and make my smaller pieces at my own pace," they said.

They remain thankful for the support from the Dalry community and encourage customers to visit before the official closure in mid-July for potential bargains. "We don't officially close until the middle of July, so pop along. You might get yourself a wee bargain. We have a lot of stock to move," the statement concluded.
