ShopRite Expands Reach: New Store Set to Open in New Jersey

A brand-new ShopRite supermarket is set to open its doors in South Plainfield, N.J., on May 8th.

This grocer, owned by the retailer Wakefern Food Corp., will open its doors at 7 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The store is 93,000 square feet.

ShopRite Store Opening Celebration

ShopRite is gearing up for a big celebration as it opens its doors to shoppers in South Plainfield, N.J. According to Supermarket News, the store's first 200 customers will receive gift bags filled with product samples and coupons. Plus, you can snag a $100 ShopRite gift card!

Rick Saker, senior vice president of Saker ShopRites, expressed excitement about the new location, promising a month-long celebration with special events.

The store will offer a wide range of groceries from famous national brands and showcase various international food products, including Southeast Asian specialties and Kosher and Halal items.

In addition to groceries, the store will feature a bakery offering freshly baked bread, a meat and seafood department, a pharmacy, and a prepared foods section.

Community leaders are set to join the Saker family, the proud owners of the new ShopRite store, for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. This event will mark the store's official opening, and store associates will also attend to celebrate.

Following the ribbon cutting, the Saker family will donate to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the local community. Meanwhile, in the store's parking lot, food trucks and vendors like Tru Fru Food, Deep Foods, and Mrs. T's Pierogies will offer shoppers free samples.

Deep Foods and Mrs. T's Pierogies will be grilling up tasty treats on-site, and customers can enter a raffle for a new Weber Grill. Additionally, ShopRite of Hadley Commons shoppers can enter to win a $100 ShopRite gift card.

ShopRite Hiring 200+ Ahead of New Central NJ Store Opening

Two weeks ago, the South Plainfield ShopRite started accepting applications for various positions, such as bookkeepers, cake decorators, cashiers, clerks, and store managers, which are typical roles in a grocery store.

The hiring center at 6303 Hadley Road was open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It's conveniently situated in the same shopping center as the upcoming supermarket.

Job seekers could apply both in-person at the hiring center and online.

Additionally, a job fair was held on Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This fair spanned several stores, including ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Gourmet Garage, and Fairway Market, all owned by Wakefern Food Corp.

The new ShopRite will replace an existing one in Piscataway, although a closing date for the current store hasn't been announced yet.
