Iconic 'Melting Pot' Chain Closing After 21 Years, Leaving 60 Locations Shuttered

Fans of The Melting Pot's famous restaurant were surprised to learn that its Westwood, New Jersey, location is closing down. The announcement was made through a message on Facebook and the restaurant's website.

Customers are rushing to check if their reservations will still be honored.

Melting Pot in Westwood Announces Closure

The Melting Pot of Westwood will close its doors on Sunday, June 2, 2024. According to a statement on the restaurant's website, the decision to close comes after the property has been sold. "We regret to announce that Melting Pot of Westwood will be closing for business. The location is closing indefinitely due to the opportunity to sell the property," the statement explained.

The Melting Pot has been a staple in the Westwood community for over two decades and has been celebrated for its role in countless family celebrations. "It has been an honor and privilege to have served the Westwood community for 21 years and be a part of fondue celebrations since 2003," the restaurant shared in their heartfelt message.

The statement also thanked the restaurant's staff and patrons, recognizing their contributions to its long-standing success. "We would like to thank our many loyal guests; it has been a pleasure serving you all these years, and we are grateful for your business," they expressed.

The message reflected on the many family events, from birthdays to graduations, marked with fondue at their tables, adding, "I hope we played our part."

As news of the Melting Pot in Westwood's impending closure spread, patrons took to Facebook to express their worries about existing reservations.

"Someone from this Melting Pot needs to call me!!! I have reservations here for a sweet 16 at the end of June!" one dismayed customer posted. Another added, "I booked a limo to bring 14 girls to the restaurant. The invitations have already gone out! This is how I find out!"

Further compounding the issue, when one of the customers called the restaurant to inquire, she learned that the staff had only found out about the closure through Facebook, the same as she had.

The U.S. Sun has contacted the restaurant seeking more details about the closure. Meanwhile, the restaurant has assured diners with gift cards can redeem them at any Melting Pot location.

Despite the closure in Westwood, loyal patrons still have options; two other New Jersey locations remain open in Maple Shade and Red Bank, with the nearest alternative being White Plains, New York.
