True Value, a well-known hardware store chain, has announced the permanent closure of one of its locations. Customers are hurrying to grab necessary items before the store closes permanently.

Over the next few weeks, the store will offer substantial discounts on its merchandise. Shoppers can expect to find significant savings as True Value clears out its inventory.

Youngstown True Value Liquidation Sale Begins

Shoppers in Youngstown, Ohio, located about 50 miles east of Akron, need to act quickly to benefit from the liquidation sales at True Value Hardware in the Cornersburg Plaza Shopping Center.

Store employees have confirmed that the location will officially close on April 30, according to the local CBS affiliate WKBN-TV.

Customers can find deals with discounts up to 50% off during the liquidation sale.

The reason for the store's sudden closure remains unknown.

Nikki Furrie informed 21 News that the final closure date of the store remains undecided and will depend on when the inventory is fully sold. According to Furrie, the impending shutdown is due to a disagreement between the franchise and the owner.

Furrie also mentioned that the Furrie-Vitullo ownership group might re-enter the hardware business in the future, though they will not be operating under the True Value franchise.

The store currently employs fewer than ten people. Furrie assured that all employees would be offered positions at other stores managed by the Furrie-Vitullo ownership group.

Despite the upcoming closure of its Youngstown location on April 30, True Value still operates about 4,500 independent stores worldwide.

In the Youngstown area, several other hardware stores remain available for customers. These include Campbell Hardware & Supply, Star Supply, Lowe's, and E&H Ace Hardware, all located just a few miles from the closing True Value.

Like True Value, Ace Hardware also operates its stores on a semi-independent basis across the country. This model offers both advantages and challenges. It provides franchise owners significant control over their operations, but the success of each store can heavily depend on local management and market conditions.

Following the recent local store changes, another notable closure occurred last fall. As reported by The U.S. Sun, an Ace Hardware store in California, in operation for nearly a century, permanently closed its doors. Frank Nelson, the co-owner, chose to retire and ended business operations on October 20.

To clear out the remaining stock, the store offered liquidation sales with discounts up to 60%. Despite Nelson's efforts to keep the business going by enticing other Ace Hardware franchisees to purchase his store and expand their presence, there were no takers.

The store was well-regarded in the community, achieving a 4.2 out of five stars on Google. Customers appreciated its charm and personalized service, describing visits as "like entering a simpler time, almost nostalgic." Many recommended the store over larger competitors, encouraging others with, "Ditch the big box and head over to these helpful folks."

This family-run business had been a staple since S.M. Hoyt founded it in 1926, but its closure marked the end of an era.
