Fans of fried chicken and biscuits, rejoice! The popular Southern fast food chain, Bojangles is set to open its doors in Los Angeles County. This marks the beginning of its expansion across the Western United States, with plans to open 30 locations in the next six years.

Bojangles' Big Expansion to Los Angeles

The national fast food chain Bojangles, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has announced its plans to launch in Los Angeles County, as per a recent news release.

Over the next six years, Los Angeles will see 30 new Bojangles restaurants opening, with the first location set to open in 2025. This expansion is part of a collaboration with Lorenzo Boucetta and Poulet Brothers, LLC.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 2009, Boucetta has been known for his work in revitalizing high-end historic properties, a commitment highlighted by Bojangles in their announcement.

Boucetta expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership in the news release: "From the moment I was introduced to Bojangles, I was certain I wanted to be involved. The delicious food, strong business performance, and excellent support made joining Bojangles easy. The chance to expand Bojangles into California came at the perfect time, and I am excited to introduce this beloved brand to the market."

Founded in 1977, Bojangles, famous for its chicken and biscuits, currently operates over 800 locations from the eastern seaboard up to Texas, with North Carolina hosting the most outlets. Now, the chain is set to reach the West Coast through a new venture led by Los Angeles-based entrepreneur Lorenzo Boucetta and Poulet Brothers, LLC.

Boucetta, who has years of experience in hospitality and real estate, said, "I've always been deeply connected to the restaurant industry. The chance to expand Bojangles in California came at the right time, and I am excited to bring this iconic brand here for the first time."

In the past few years, Bojangles has been aggressively expanding, opening 40 new restaurants in 2023, including 10 in completely new markets. Additionally, last year, the company planned 270 new locations, targeting cities like Phoenix and Las Vegas.

In Los Angeles, Bojangles will face stiff competition from local favorites like In-N-Out and established national brands like McDonald's. Los Angeles residents have a long-standing love for fried chicken, enjoying offerings from places like Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles and Howlin' Ray's.

Bojangles aims to add a Southern flair to this mix, serving fried chicken and biscuits and Southern "fixings" such as pimento cheese, Cajun pinto beans, and dirty rice.

Bojangles, a popular fast-food chain known for its Cajun-seasoned chicken and buttermilk biscuits, has been making headlines with its significant expansion plans. The company, acquired in 2019 by Jordan Company and Durational Capital Management, recently announced the opening of 270 new restaurants this year.

In addition to its national growth, Bojangles is setting its sights on Phoenix, planning to introduce 20 new locations. However, as reported by Axios, the timeline for the first restaurant in the Valley remains undisclosed.

This expansion follows a successful year in 2023, during which Bojangles launched 40 new locations and ventured into new markets such as Dallas, Columbus, and Orlando. Despite these advances, the brand faced challenges in Florida, closing eight Orlando locations.

The Charlotte Observer noted that the Florida market did not align with the company's strategic growth objectives.
