Chipotle has changed the color of its well-known burrito foil for the first time. The popular Mexican food chain made this change to mark a big sports event this weekend.
Chipotle Celebrates Masters with Green Foil
Chipotle offers its famous burritos wrapped in green foil this weekend, but only at one location. The special wrapping is a nod to the Masters Tournament, a major annual golf event.
The choice of green mirrors the iconic green jacket awarded to the tournament's winner.
Burrito enthusiasts eager to experience this unique promotion must visit Chipotle at 229 Robert C Daniel Jr Parkway in Augusta, Georgia, where the tournament is hosted.
This limited-time green foil is available through April 14th. It celebrates one of golf's most prestigious events right where it happens.
"During event weeks, it's typical to see many players dining at the nearest Chipotle," a company spokesperson explained. The fast-food chain hopes their special green foil burrito might bring good luck to golfer Max Homa and other pro golfer fans at this week's Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia.
Max Homa, who will sport a Chipotle logo on his bag during the Masters and other 2024 PGA tournaments, is part of Chipotle's "Real Food for Real Athletes" initiative. This program also supports stars like soccer player Julie Ertz, sprinter Michael Norman, and basketball player Nneka Ogwumike.

Chipotle's Wrap Changes Split Fan Opinions
While the unique green wrapper is a hit among golf enthusiasts, not all recent changes at Chipotle have received a warm welcome.
The 88th Masters Tournament, starting on April 11, will see 106 top male golfers, including Tiger Woods, vying for the championship. The winner of this prestigious event will earn a trophy and a substantial cash prize. Last year, Jon Rahm claimed $3.24 million for his victory.
In discussing the appeal of golf and sports, Brandt from The Street emphasized that people in their twenties are pivotal in setting trends in what's considered cool in today's culture.
Chipotle is again wrapping its burritos in gold foil instead of the usual silver. This change marks a special occasion, just as in 2011, when the company introduced gold foil to celebrate its 18th anniversary.
Starting this Friday, July 23, customers can enjoy burritos wrapped in gold foil in-store and through digital orders. Additionally, from July 23 to August 1, Chipotle offers free delivery for orders placed through their app or website, making it even easier for fans to join the celebration.
In related news, Chipotle has raised its menu prices across California, a move prompted by recent legislative changes. A new state law, effective April 1, mandates that fast food chains with over 60 locations pay their employees at least $20 an hour.
Consequently, the price of a chicken burrito at Chipotle has increased 8.3% from February to April, and a steak burrito is now 7% more expensive, as reported by Nation's Restaurant News. Chipotle confirmed to the publication that the price adjustments are directly linked to the new wage requirements, stating they have "implemented a statewide price increase in light of new legislation in California."
