Another blow hit the beloved breakfast and burger chain Frisch's Big Boy as they confirmed the closure of yet another location. The restaurant, headquartered in Ohio, has shut down its branch in Covington, Kentucky.

The iconic breakfast and burger chain, Frisch's Big Boy has announced the closure of another location. This decision comes after the fast food giant recently closed three other Kentucky branches.

The latest casualty is the restaurant located on Kyles Lane in Covington. With this closure, Kentucky food enthusiasts have one less option on their dining list. A notice posted on the front door informs customers of the permanent shutdown, directing them to other Frisch's Big Boy outlets.

Established by Dave Frisch in 1939, the chain has become a beloved fixture in the Midwest.

On Tuesday, the retail group managing the closures issued a statement clarifying the situation. They explained that while Frisch's Big Boy closed these locations, they are owned by an investment group that controls the properties, which are separate from Frisch's.

As commercial real estate brokers, the landlord has recently appointed them as the listing agent to market these properties for sale and lease, aiming to address the vacancies.

The restaurant chain is renowned for its iconic ceramic "big boy" statue welcoming customers at every outlet. It offers breakfast throughout the day.

Their menu features hearty options like the Big Boy's Big Breakfast, which includes eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, and Texas Toast. Another popular choice is the Breakfast Burrito, which can be made with bacon or sausage.

Customers can choose from various sides, including crinkle-cut fries, onion rings, cole slaw, vegetable soup, and mac and cheese.

Community Laments Frisch's Big Boy Closures

Amidst the recent wave of closures affecting Frisch's Big Boy locations, fans like Cathy Eubanks express their sadness. "I think it's awful," she remarked. "I just think it's a shame."

For many, Frisch's holds a special place, whether it's the crushed ice, comforting vegetable soup, or indulging in fries dipped in tartar sauce. "The breakfast, yeah," mentioned Randy Fryman, while Eubanks added, "Usually the Big Boy."

In the Tri-State area, Frisch's is more than just a restaurant; it's a community staple. Eubanks emphasized its significance, stating, "I think it's such a Cincinnati thing. Most of us who lived here went there growing up. It's just so sad."

As to why so many locations are closing, Eubanks speculated, "I think they were harmed along with a lot of other restaurants during COVID and never quite got back." Fryman also suggested rising prices could be a factor, stating, "People can't afford it."

Efforts to reach Frisch's spokesperson for potential future closures have been unsuccessful.

As closures ripple through the retail sector nationwide, shoppers in Merced, California, received disheartening news of the impending closure of a beloved Barnes & Noble location. Serving as the city's largest bookstore, its closure saddened many residents.

The bookstore, which occupies a sprawling 21,714-square-foot space, will close on May 12th. Despite this closure, managers have expressed willingness to seek another location within the Merced area.
