A former Burger King employee has pointed the finger at customers for frequent complaints about the chain's french fries.
The ex-worker mentioned that these complaints often follow a particular order request made at the drive-thru or the register.
Customer Requests Slow Down Service
Customers often ask for "fresh fries" at Burger King, says Stephanie, a former employee from Ohio who spoke to Reader's Digest.
Stephanie explained that while many crave a freshly made batch of Burger King's golden brown fries, this special request typically leads to frustration. She recalled rolling her eyes whenever customers made this demand, knowing well the inevitable complaint about the long wait time it caused.
"When a customer orders fresh fries, they usually end up complaining about how long it takes," Stephanie told the publication. She advised customers against making this request to avoid unnecessary delays.
According to Stephanie, asking for fresh fries burdens the employees and increases the wait for other customers. Most of the time, the staff will not fulfill the specific request and will serve the most recent fries instead.
"Also, depending on how busy we are, we're not making a batch special for you so that you may walk away with the same fries you'd get without the request," the former employee cautioned.
Ordering fresh fries isn't a practice unique to Burger King.
Customers hoping to get a specially-made batch of fries might try their luck at other fast food outlets, though it's often unlikely that their requests will be accommodated.

Fast Food Fries Trust Shaken by Incident

Furthermore, this reliance on fast-food restaurants is tested when the trust between customers and establishments is broken.
Recently, a trust breach occurred in the US at a Burger King in South Carolina. It was reported that the assistant manager, Jaime Christine Major, 39, was charged with a serious crime for allegedly serving fries in the garbage.
According to The New York Post, she supposedly put these fries back into the fresh batch container, covering them with newly cooked fries.
This incident came to light after police were called to handle a disturbance at the restaurant on July 9, 2023, as reported by Fox Carolina. They arrived to find two women yelling and cursing at the staff, leading to their arrest for disorderly conduct.
Burger King's headquarters later informed the police about Major's actions, resulting in her arrest for tampering with food.
Getting fresh fries at fast food outlets often depends on the store's busyness, making it a gamble for customers.
However, an interesting tip from a former McDonald's employee suggests a possible upgrade. Ruby Guest, who shared her experience on TikTok, mentioned a special seasoning called Angus seasoning, typically used on burgers, that can be requested for fries.
Ruby described the seasoning as a game-changer, saying, "Macca's is already amazing but with Angus seasoning - so good." Macca's is the affectionate nickname Australian customers use for McDonald's.
She praised the seasoning for being much tastier than regular salt, enhancing the flavor significantly. Yet, similar to special requests at Burger King, not all McDonald's locations may honor this seasoning request. Some of Ruby's viewers commented that their local McDonald's refused to add the seasoning to their orders.
