Good news for people who love to save money while shopping: Aldi plans to expand rapidly in the United States. They've announced plans to open hundreds of new stores.
This popular store, where you can buy groceries without spending much money, plans to open 800 new stores in the next four years and expand to several new cities, including Las Vegas, Nevada.
Aldi Plans Big Expansion by 2028
Jason Hart, the boss of Aldi, just shared some exciting news. He said they plan to open many new stores by the end of 2028.
Hart explained, "Our growth comes from our customers. They want more Aldi stores close to where they live all over the country." He's proud of how Aldi helps people save money. People who haven't shopped at Aldi are drawn to the store because of the great deals.
There's a plan to open over 300 new stores, especially in the Northeast and Midwest. This means more people will get to enjoy Aldi's affordable prices.
Aldi is targeting growth in the western part of the U.S. and plans to open new stores in cities like Las Vegas.
According to a local Fox affiliate KVVU-TV report, the grocery chain plans to open a store in Henderson, Nevada, just outside the famous Las Vegas.
Officials from the city have told the news outlet that Aldi's plans to build a store were given the green light in February.
However, they're still awaiting the approval of building permits to prepare the store for shoppers.

Following its acquisition of Southeastern Grocers' Winn-Dixie and Harveys, Aldi is expanding with modernized new stores equipped with LED lighting, rooftop solar panels, and green refrigerators.
Some existing stores will also be remodeled, and many will reopen as Aldi locations by 2025. CEO Hart credits the chain's decade-plus growth to dedicated teams and suppliers, emphasizing the expansion as an opportunity for further development and partnership.
Aldi to Open Discount 800 Stores in Expansion
Aldi plans to open 800 budget-friendly grocery stores across the U.S. over the next five years. The company wants to attract Americans looking to save money because of the high prices at other grocery stores.
With the increasing cost of living, many people are finding new ways to shop without spending much. However, prices are still about 19% higher than before the health crisis, pushing shoppers to look for cheaper options.
Many are now choosing store-brand products over famous names, turning to less expensive stores or cutting back on extras like snacks and fancy foods.
People are speaking out against what they see as unfair high prices on everyday items, especially food and household goods like paper towels and napkins.
The government is also paying attention to these pricing concerns. Last month, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) took legal action to stop a big deal between Kroger and Albertsons, two of the biggest grocery chains in the country.
The FTC says the $24.6 billion merger plan could reduce competition and raise prices for millions of people. The companies announced their intention to merge in October 2022.
Government figures show that the cost of groceries people eat at home usually goes up by about 2.5% each year. But in 2022, these prices jumped by 11.4%, and they went up another 5% in 2023.
