Dollar General Corporation proudly opened its 20,000th store. The new store is part of the DG Market chain in Alice, Texas. This milestone highlights Dollar General's ongoing mission to offer easy-to-reach, budget-friendly options for everyday items and healthy food to communities.

Beyond that, our stores are a force for good in their local communities, aiding nonprofits, schools, and libraries through grants from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Dollar General Celebrates 20,000th Store Milestone
The grand opening of Dollar General's 20,000th store kicked off at 9 a.m. today, with senior company leaders and partners in attendance. The event started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and special treats for customers.
Each visitor received a free tote bag filled with samples from various brands and enjoyed snacks from Dollar General's own Clover Valley line.
In a generous move, Dollar General donated $10,000 each to the Alicia Salinas Public Library and the Boys & Girls Club of Alice. These funds are aimed at supporting educational and tutoring programs in the community.
Additionally, Saenz Elementary School in Alice received new books from the company, encouraging a love for reading among students.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott further highlighted the event's significance and acknowledged the store's potential to impact Alice and the surrounding areas positively.
He encouraged all Dollar General employees to take pride in their roles and reflect on the values shaping one of America's leading companies. Dollar General, a significant employer in Texas, boasts over 17,500 staff members across its stores, distribution centers, and private fleet.

Nearly 70 years ago, in 1955, the first Dollar General store opened in Springfield, Kentucky. This marked the beginning of what would become a major retail chain. The store was the brainchild of J.L.
