Slim Chickens, a popular fast-food chain from Fayetteville, Arkansas, announced Thursday its plan to open seven new restaurants in Maryland.
The new Slim Chickens locations will be managed by DDR Holdings, a company run by Darrin and Dennis Atlas, originally from Leonardtown, Maryland.
The Atlas brothers have experience in the restaurant business, having entered the world of franchising almost ten years ago with their Firehouse Subs restaurant. This new expansion marks a significant step for Slim Chickens in Maryland.

Slim Chickens, a rapidly growing fast-food chain, is expanding its reach with plans to open seven new restaurants in Maryland. This move is part of a larger success story for the company, which now operates over 255 locations globally.
Slim Chickens has seen remarkable growth in its operations, with a 60% increase in restaurants in the last two years. This surge has led to the opening of over 250 locations. The company's sales have soared, reaching over $3.86 million.'
In the last five years, Slim Chickens has made significant strides in its development. The company has signed agreements to open over 1,200 new restaurants. Looking ahead, Slim Chickens focuses on several key markets in the United States, including Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New York.
The brand also sets its sights on international expansion, with plans in the European Union, Turkey, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates), and Asia. This global outreach highlights Slim Chickens' ambition to establish a strong presence at home and abroad.
On February 15, 2024, Slim Chickens announced that Maryland would be a key area for this expansion.

Slim Chickens Grows in St. Mary's and Anne Arundel Co
Slim Chickens, known for its mouth-watering menu, is set to open a new location this month in St. Mary's County, California. Following this, another outlet is scheduled to open in Crofton, Anne Arundel County, by late 2023.
The restaurant, famous for its chicken tenders and wings, also offers a variety of dishes, including sandwiches, wraps, salads, and the popular chicken & waffles. Their menu includes unique side dishes like fried pickles and okra, delicious milkshakes, and Mason-jar desserts.
Darrin Atlas, one of the franchise operators, expressed his enthusiasm for Slim Chickens. "When we first saw Slim Chickens, we instantly fell in love with it," he said. "The restaurant's design is beautiful, and the food, especially the chicken & waffles, is outstanding. It's more than just fried chicken; it's a culinary experience."
Atlas emphasized the importance of finding the right team for their expansion plans. "Our growth depends largely on our ability to recruit great people for each new location," he explained. "We're exploring all areas of Maryland for potential growth."
Atlas also mentioned growing interest in the brand across Maryland, with potential franchisees visiting their Bowie store. "We're eager to expand as much as we can in Maryland, and we're equally excited to see others join in spreading Slim Chickens' presence in the market," he added.
Slim Chickens operates over 100 locations globally, including 12 in the United Kingdom and Kuwait.
