Kroger supermarkets in the Miami Valley area have introduced new sports betting kiosks for customers. Many Kroger locations in the Dayton region are joining the Ohio Lottery's network of gaming sites.
These stores have received official licensing to operate as Type C gaming hosts.
Kroger Stores in the Tri-State Area Now Offer Sports Betting
Kroger customers in the Tri-State area can now enjoy a unique shopping experience, as select Kroger stores have introduced sports betting along with their traditional offerings of groceries and lottery tickets.
The Ohio Lottery Commission has granted Type C licenses for sports betting kiosks to several Kroger locations, including stores in Hyde Park, Symmes Township, Oakley, Corryville, Colerain Township, Downtown, Green Township, Anderson Township, Fairfield, Liberty Township, Middletown, Monroe, Mount Orab, and West Chester.
These Kroger stores are among the first in the Tri-State to feature these kiosks since the Ohio Casino Control Commission authorized 41 Kroger locations across the state in September 2022.
The kiosks offer a convenient option for local bettors, supplementing existing sportsbooks and online betting platforms. However, they don't support futures, props, or live bets.
To use the kiosks, first-time users must present an ID confirming they are at least 21 years old and provide a credit/debit card for payment validation. With an established account, bettors can place single or parlay bets on various popular sports using either cash or card.
After placing a bet, the kiosk issues a printed ticket. Winners of bets up to $600 can redeem their tickets at any kiosk-hosting location. For winnings over $600, tickets must be mailed to the Ohio Lottery central office or submitted at one of its regional offices.

Just over a year since Ohio legalized sports gambling, the state has seen a significant surge in betting activity. In its inaugural year, Ohioans have spent an impressive sum exceeding $7.6 billion on sports betting.
This high level of participation indicates a strong interest and engagement in the newly legalized gambling sector within the state.
In Ohio, the vast majority of sports betting is happening digitally. A staggering 97% of all bets in the state are made through online platforms or mobile applications. Ohio is home to 20 operators offering online or mobile betting options, alongside 16 retail locations for in-person betting.
Two major mobile operators primarily lead the state's sports betting market. FanDuel stands out as the top earner, contributing to 43% of the total revenue, while DraftKings follows closely, accounting for 30%. This trend highlights the growing preference for digital betting platforms among Ohioans.
