A Seattle resident's recent experience with Costco's lenient return policy has gained widespread attention.

Jackie Nguyen, in a TikTok video viewed by nearly 3 million people since its posting on January 23, explained her decision to return a couch she had owned for two and a half years, stating, 'We simply didn't like it anymore, just a matter of not liking the color.

Jackie's Confidence Shines as She Navigates Costco Couch Return Process

Jackie Nguyen, who recently made headlines for her bold Costco couch return, admitted to feeling apprehensive about the process. She recounted how she felt the eyes of fellow shoppers upon her as she waited in line at the warehouse store.

In a reassuring message to her followers, she said, "But who cares? Return it. They have an awesome return policy. Buy your furniture from Costco, girl. You can return it when you don't like it anymore."

Despite not having the original receipt, Jackie's fears were put to rest when a Costco employee located the purchase order on their in-store computer system. Her reason for returning the couch? Simply put, her family had fallen out of love with the color.

Costco, known for its customer-friendly policies, didn't disappoint and provided Jackie with a full refund for her purchase.

Nguyen shared with her audience the anxiety she felt when returning the couch, especially since she didn't have the receipt and considered it a significant purchase.

However, she expressed that the sales clerk she encountered was understanding and didn't make an issue of her lack of documentation.

Given that Nguyen remembered the date of her couch purchase, a Costco staff member was able to find the transaction in their records. As per the Daily Dot, the couch cost $900 at that time, but it currently sells for $1,500.

After explaining that her family simply no longer liked the couch, Nguyen received a full refund of the original purchase amount to her card.

She reassured her followers in a confident message by saying, "Don't worry about it. If you don't like it, just return it. Costco's return policy is excellent. Ladies, consider buying your furniture from Costco; you can return it if it no longer suits you."

Costco's Flexible Return Policy Explained

Costco's return policy is flexible, lacking stringent timeframes or specific return conditions for most items. However, certain product categories, such as electronics, jewelry, cigarettes, alcohol, car tires, batteries, airline tickets, gold, and special order items, come with exceptions.

A recent TikTok video depicting the return of a couch to Costco stirred controversy within the platform's community. The woman's actions faced criticism from some viewers, who accused her of exploiting the store's return policy.

In response, one commenter expressed their disapproval, questioning the morality of returning an item in good condition after two and a half years of use merely due to a policy loophole.

The reaction video garnered over 15,000 comments and nearly 2 million views, with many top commenters sharing the sentiment that such returns were an abuse of Costco's lenient return policy.

Nevertheless, some defended the woman's actions, citing Costco's commitment to customer satisfaction. One supporter mentioned that their spouse worked for Costco and emphasized that the company profits from returned items.

This incident isn't the first time a Costco return video has gone viral on TikTok, with customers previously returning used items to the store, citing its liberal return policy. Costco Wholesale has not issued an official response to this matter.
