Bad Idea, a standout dining establishment in Nashville, has earned a prestigious spot on Robb Report's '27 Most Beautiful New Restaurants in America in 2023'. This recognition places the Nashville restaurant alongside other notable entries from major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

The list celebrates the most aesthetically pleasing and innovative restaurant designs nationwide, highlighting Bad Idea as a prime example of culinary excellence and architectural beauty.

Nashville Restaurant Bad Idea: A Blend of Heritage and Modern Design

The Robb Report recently praised Bad Idea, a restaurant in Nashville's vibrant culinary scene. Designed by Design Object, Bad Idea's aesthetic starkly contrasts its name.

Occupying a former church sanctuary, the restaurant preserves the building's original windows and towering ceilings. At its heart is a horseshoe bar, surrounded by comfortable seating scattered throughout the space.

The decor is enlivened with colorful furniture and tables, complemented by textural installations from New Hat, a design studio. This unique setup makes enjoying a glass of wine in the space an experience.

Situated at 1021 Russell Street in Nashville, Bad Idea opened its doors in October and specializes in Lao cuisine. The restaurant welcomes patrons daily from 5 pm to 1 am, offering a unique blend of historic architecture and contemporary culinary delights.

Aside from Bad Idea in Nashville, some restaurants mentioned in Robb Report are Anto's Sleek in New York City.

The recent design approach for Anto, a Korean steakhouse, showcases a minimalist yet impactful style crafted by the DESFA Group. The designers have skillfully used a combination of rustic metal, tiles, solid wood, and brass to create a refined and uncluttered ambiance. Enhancing this simplicity is the strategic use of natural light, flooding in from skylights and further amplified by mirrors, giving the space an airy and open feel.

Adding to this elegant simplicity, Anto features colorful elements of bojagi, a traditional Korean craft involving fabrics of various shades. The restaurant is also adorned with an art installation that includes hibiscus flowers illuminated by an infinity lighting effect, adding a touch of vibrant aesthetics to the space.

This thoughtful design not only complements but also focuses attention on the standout feature of Anto: its exquisite Korean steakhouse menu.

Another on the list is the Bad Roman in New York City, a creation of GRT Architects, which is a celebration of maximalist design. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a half-ton cast stone wild boar adorned with a neon necklace.

The interior is a kaleidoscope of bright orange fabrics, trompe l'oeil mosaics, and floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of Central Park. The eclectic mix of elements in Bad Roman creates a uniquely vibrant dining experience.

Furthermore, Ford Fry's Bar Blanc brings a slice of France to the dining scene. Designed by Smith Hanes Studio, the space blends classic European elegance, featuring marble tables, velvet banquettes, and tiled floors imported from Europe.

The decor includes vintage Murano Glass chandeliers and a hand-carved bar counter from a 1920s Belgian restaurant, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of Parisian charm.
