Kentucky Fried Chicken has introduced its latest menu item, the Smash'd Potato Bowls, offering a unique take on the popular famous bowl by putting potatoes in the spotlight.
Priced at $3.49, these bowls are packed with creamy mashed potatoes and topped with golden, crispy fries. They're then smothered in a warm, rich cheese sauce and sprinkled with savory bacon crumbles and a mix of three cheeses for an extra burst of flavor.
Customers also have the option to add chicken nuggets to their bowl for an additional $2, creating a hearty meal that combines all the classic KFC favorites in one dish.

KFC's Smash'd Potato Bowls: A Success After Trial
KFC has officially rolled out its new Smash'd Potato Bowls across the country, following a successful trial in Pittsburgh last year. The debut of these bowls builds on KFC's history of innovative dishes, which started with the introduction of their Famous Bowls in 2006 and expanded with the Mac & Cheese Bowls in 2019.
In addition to the Smash'd Potato Bowls, KFC is bringing a feast to the table with the launch of the $20 Taste of KFC meal. This deal, available at all KFC locations starting today, offers a generous serving of six pieces of KFC's signature Original Recipe® chicken.
The meal is complemented by four delectable sides: smooth mashed potatoes with gravy, freshly prepared coleslaw, sweet corn, and creamy cheddar mac & cheese, along with four of KFC's famous biscuits. All these flavors of KFC can be enjoyed for just $20.
KFC's latest menu addition, the Smash'd Potato Bowls, promises to elevate comfort food to new heights. "These new bowls are our way of smashing all your favorite KFC flavors into one exciting dish," said Nick Chavez, KFC's Chief Marketing Officer. "If our Famous Bowls are something you enjoy, you'll definitely fall in love with these."
Alongside the Smash'd Potato Bowls, KFC is also rolling out a tempting $20 value combo. This deal includes six pieces of the iconic KFC Original Recipe chicken, accompanied by a selection of sides. The combo features creamy mashed potatoes, fresh coleslaw, sweet corn, rich mac & cheese, and four of KFC's delicious biscuits, all for just $20.
KFC Revamps Bowls & Brings Back Favorites
Over time, KFC has experimented with various versions of their signature bowls, incorporating different elements from their menu. The Famous Bowls, launched in 2006, featured a base of mashed potatoes and gravy, topped with corn, shredded cheese, and fried chicken. In a creative twist in 2019, the chain swapped the potato base with their staple side dish, macaroni and cheese.
This mac & cheese-based bowl quickly became a hit, leading KFC to re-introduce it in 2022. "Imagine our delicious mac & cheese, now topped with crispy popcorn chicken and extra cheese. It's more than just good, it's finger lickin' good!" KFC enthused about the bowl.
While the Twister Wraps might hold the record for KFC's most demanded comeback (spawning multiple petitions and even inspiring fan tattoos), the chain often revisits old favorites to rejuvenate its menu and keep customers guessing about what's next.
In the summer of 2022, KFC re-launched the Double Down in some international markets. This unique "sandwich" gained viral fame for its unconventional structure: two pieces of fried chicken replacing bread, encasing bacon, cheese, and a mayo-style sauce.
