H&R Block’s New Direct Import Feature Streamlines Switching from TurboTax for Effortless Tax Filing

H&R Block has unveiled its latest feature, 'Direct Import.' With an increasing number of people - nearly 65 million - opting to file their taxes independently, this new integration promises to make the process faster and more efficient.

Direct Import by H&R Block is designed to reduce the hassle of manually digging up and entering last year's tax information. This innovation is a welcome relief for DIY tax filers, offering a quicker and simpler way to get taxes done.

In a major step towards simplifying tax season, H&R Block has introduced 'Direct Import,' a tool that effortlessly transfers prior-year tax return data from TurboTax to H&R Block's DIY online products. This new feature allows tax filers to switch to H&R Block easily using their phone number linked to their TurboTax account.

H&R Block Simplifies Tax Filing with 'Direct Import' Feature

Direct Import uses secure data retrieval methods to import up to 150 fields from previous tax returns. This saves users considerable time and significantly reduces the effort in the tax filing process.

Heather Watts, SVP of Consumer Tax Products at H&R Block, explained the motivation behind this innovation. 'Many consumers find switching tax services daunting due to the difficulty in transferring data. Despite knowing there are better options available, they feel stuck.

With Direct Import, we aim to eliminate this barrier, offering an easy way for users to bring their data along when they choose H&R Block for their tax needs,' she said."

H&R Block has launched a new feature that provides a safe and straightforward method for users to transfer their personal tax information. Starting today, this service is available across all H&R Block's DIY online tax filing options, including Free, Deluxe, Premium, and Self-Employed Online Editions, without additional cost.

In 2023, over five million people switched to H&R Block, drawn by its dependable tax filing products and services. The company stands out for its 100% accuracy, maximum refund guarantees, and transparent upfront pricing.

Building on this success, H&R Block recently rolled out AI Tax Assist, leveraging advanced technology from Microsoft Azure OpenAI. This feature offers instant, unlimited AI tax assistance to DIY tax filers using paid options, further enhancing the efficiency and simplicity of the tax preparation process. Additionally, individuals opting for paid services can access live expert help without extra charges, ensuring comprehensive support for their tax filing needs.

TurboTax Ads, IRS Pilot Program Stir Drama

The tax preparation sector, usually uneventful, has seen its share of drama recently. In a significant development, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) passed a ruling earlier this month restricting TurboTax from advertising its software as 'free.'
