A well-known pizza chain, Pieology Pizzeria, has permanently shut down two of its locations. With over 100 stores nationwide, Pieology is favored by many for its unique 'build your own' pizza experience.
Popular Pizza Chain Closes Two Prime Sacramento Locations
Pieology Pizzeria has closed its restaurants at 1020 16th St. in downtown Sacramento and 488 Howe Ave. in The UV, previously University Village. These locations have been removed from the chain's website listing for the Sacramento area.
Additionally, Google has marked the downtown restaurant as "permanently closed." The Sacramento Business Journal recently revealed that the Howe Avenue site is now up for lease.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Pieology has not responded to requests for comment from The Sacramento Bee.
The Sacramento Business Journal reports that a Burmese restaurant will soon replace the recently closed Pieology location.
Founded in 2011, Pieology operates over 100 stores throughout the United States. Despite the recent closures, the Sacramento region still hosts five Pieology establishments. The chain is significant in various states, including North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Connecticut, Nevada, and Utah.

Pieology Fayetteville Shuts Down, Other Chains Also Facing Closures
According to The Fayetteville Flyer, a Pieology restaurant in Fayetteville, Arkansas, has permanently closed its doors. The closure was evident as the signage was taken down from the front of the establishment. Pieology, popular for its classic savory pizzas, is known for offering unique items like dessert pizzas topped with Nutella.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Pieology for a statement.
This closure is not an isolated incident in the restaurant industry. TGI Fridays recently announced the shutdown of 36 underperforming restaurants across 12 states, citing these closures as part of their growth strategy.
The company stated that it provides over 1,000 transfer opportunities for affected employees, covering more than 80% of those impacted by the closures.
Ray Risley, the US president and chief operating officer of TGI Fridays, emphasized that their main focus is enhancing the guest experience. He mentioned that optimizing operations is crucial for the company to fulfill and surpass this commitment to its guests.
