BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse is set to shut down its Tri-County Mall establishment permanently. Located at the strategic junction of Kemper Road and Princeton Pike/Ohio 747, this popular eatery will close its doors next week, marking the end of a 15-year legacy.

As confirmed by an announcement on the company's website, the restaurant and brewhouse are set to close its doors this Sunday.

"After much consideration, we've decided to close our Tri-County location," they noted.

They added that they sincerely appreciate the unwavering support from their Tri-County community over the years. The company invited its patrons to feel free to come to their other nearby restaurants. They look forward to serving them again soon.

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse is Shutting Down at Tri-County Mall Amidst Major Redevelopment Plans

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse opened in 2008 at Tri-County Mall and will shut its doors, leaving its four other locations in Norwood, Florence, Beavercreek, and Dayton operational. The closure comes as the mall itself undergoes a significant transformation.

Last year, the Tri-County Mall closed to make way for the ambitious Artisan Village project.

This $1 billion redevelopment effort aims to convert what was once Greater Cincinnati's largest shopping mall into a sprawling mixed-use development, one of the largest in Ohio.

Artisan Village is set to feature 450 new apartments, a range of restaurants and shops, office spaces, schools, entertainment and leisure spots, a culinary center, and expansive green spaces, including a unique restaurant catering to dogs and their owners.

Initially planned to be executed in five stages over a decade, the redevelopment of the 76-acre site has faced delays.

Park Harbor Capital's founder, Michael Vanhuss, cited difficulties in securing construction financing due to high-interest rates, a challenge echoed by developers nationwide. Despite these hurdles, Vanhuss assures that the project will proceed, although the timeline remains uncertain.

Following the BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse closure at Tri-County Mall on December 31, the nearest alternative for patrons will be approximately 15 miles south in Norwood, another Cincinnati suburb.

This shutdown will leave 13 BJ's restaurants still operating throughout Ohio.

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse in Towson, Maryland, the first in the state, has closed its doors after eight years of service. The restaurant, which ceased operations on August 27, leaves a legacy of community engagement and service.

In a statement, a BJ's spokesperson expressed the difficulty of the decision to local ABC affiliate WMAR. "Closing this restaurant was not an easy choice. It's been a wonderful location for BJ's, and we owe our success to the community's support and our dedicated team," said the spokesperson.

BJ's Restaurant, once a prominent feature of the Towson Square redevelopment, opened in 2014. The restaurant was an integral part of the area now known as Circle East, which the popular Cinemark movie theater anchors. This closure marks a significant change for the bustling complex.

This closure follows another in Hayden Island, Oregon, where BJ's shut down a 26-year-old establishment in February. The future of other BJ's locations remains uncertain, with no clear indication of further closures.
