McDonald's, the renowned fast-food giant, is gradually unveiling details about its much-anticipated and highly secretive new dining venture, the 'CosMc's,' marking the latest evolution in McDonald's New Secret Restaurant Concept.

Slated to open in Illinois, this innovative spin-off promises a unique culinary experience, though many vital aspects remain mysterious.

New secret restaurant concept: CosMc's has McDonald's DNA

The name "CosMc's" comes from a figure in a McDonald's ad from the 1980s that lasted into the 1990s.

The silver alien that wanted McDonald's meals brought the beginning of the idea for a new restaurant model that is almost finished in Bolingbrook, Illinois.

McDonald's newest and most innovative idea, "CosMc's" restaurants, will open in a few chosen places in early 2024.

McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski shared this news during the company's second-quarter earnings call earlier this summer. Kempczinski explained "CosMc's" as a small-format idea that keeps McDonald's DNA while showing off its unique personality.

But recent social media posts and Google Maps show where the first restaurant will be and what customers may expect-many drive-thrus.

The TikTok user @snackolator, who documents new snack trends, posted a building site tour in Bolingbrook, Illinois. This location may host a CosMc restaurant. A video from TikToker shows four drive-thrus at the site.

According to the TikTok user, this new startup may compete with Starbucks by focusing on McCafe food and drinks rather than McDonald's burgers and fries. TikToker noted that the CosMc's being built next to a McDonald's popularizes this theory.

McDonald's New Secret Restaurant Menu Revealed

Despite being secretive about the fast-food giant's new concept based on the unique McDonald's character in the late 80s, Iman Jalali, a real estate investor in greater Chicago, had a business trip in Illinois and decided to visit the new McDonald's idea.

He came across the location earlier this week. As he drove past the previous Boston Market site, he noticed several cars lined up in four drive-thru lanes, each featuring newly installed digital menu boards.

As Jalali shared with Business Insider, these menus were brimming with various 'adventurous drinks.' Jalali captured photos of the menu and subsequently shared them with Business Insider.

He was surprised by the experience, likening it to Dutch Bros, the Oregon-based drive-thru coffee chain growing rapidly in the US. He noted that the menu seemed to merge a love for all-day breakfast with a coffee focus similar to Starbucks but with more kid-friendly drink options.

The menu Jalali shared includes a variety of teas, lemonades, slushies, frappes, and coffees, along with a special section named 'signature galactic boosts.'

Some unusual drinks include a churro frappe, a sour cherry energy boost, and a popping pear slush. Breakfast items, baked goods, and burgers are on the menu. There's a spicy queso sandwich and classic food items from McDonald's, like the Egg McMuffin and the Sausage McMuffin with Egg.

When Jalali came by, he saw that the cars in the drive-thru were spotless and not moving. He also saw a drone flying above, which he thought might be shooting. When Business Insider reporter Joe Ciolli drove by the area, he saw a drone.

Although the chain did not respond about the menu, Market Screener says McDonald's said it would give more information at an investor's day meeting on December 6 at 10:30 a.m.
