Two Major Grocery Stores, Fresco y Mas, and Harvey Supermarket, announced a one-day shutdown on Thanksgiving.
These chains join other prominent grocery stores, such as Walmart and Costco.
According to ScrapeHero, Fresco y Más has 28 locations in Florida, and Harvey Supermarket has 25 sites in Florida and Georgia.
More than 7,000 stores have said they will be closed on Thanksgiving. In this case, Walmart will close all 4,616 of its stores so that its workers can enjoy the holiday. Also, Costco will close all 591 of its stores for Turkey Day.
On Black Friday, the southern grocery shops will be open again.
Meanwhile, Getty Two, another major grocery store, declared its one-day shutdown. It means that people need to plan their Thanksgiving meals ahead of time.
Major Grocery Stores shut down for "Special Reasons"
Both chains used social media to discuss why all their shops would be closed for a day.
The stores issued statements in agreement: "On Thanksgiving Day, as a gesture of appreciation to our employees, we will be closed so that they may have the opportunity to unwind with their families and create lasting memories at home around their dining tables.
One fan responded to Harvey's Supermarket's Facebook post and agreed with this strategy. She even thanked the grocery store for thinking of its employees.

Stores that are open during the Holiday
Although many major grocery stores will be closed on Thursday, some supermarkets will still open, but only for a limited time.
Wegmans will be open on Thanksgiving, but only for a short time. Some Wegmans stores will be closed early today. One in Brooklyn, New York, will be closed at 4 pm instead of 11 pm as usual. The times that Wegmans stores open and close depend on their location.
Most Wegmans stores will likely reopen at 6 a.m. on Black Friday, but each store has unique opening and closing times.
Moreover, Dollar General, a low-price retailer, will be open on Thanksgiving from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. But, the schedule may vary depending on the area. Consumers can check out their local store or be sure they can browse their website.
Furthermore, Whole Foods will be open all through the holidays. However, they will only run on certain days and times so that customers can check their local shop. Whole Foods shops will be open on Black Friday, but the hours will depend on the area.
Several pharmacies will be available during the holiday for those who need to buy some medicines.
CVS told ThePioneerWoman website that most of their stores will be open on Thanksgiving, but not all of them. The store asked patrons to visit the CVS website to see which stores are open. Stores that CVS owns will be available as usual on Black Friday.
A press release by Walgreens on November 16 said that most shops would be closed on November 23. It is the first Thanksgiving that Walgreens has shut its doors, but based on where they are, some 24-hour stores will still be open during certain hours.
Walgreens shops will reopen on November 24. The opening and closing times will depend on the store's location.
