Jeremy Lin news indicated that the Los Angeles Lakers point guard could have a big year in the upcoming season, which might be enough for him to make it into the 2015 NBA All-Star Game.
Lin, who was acquired by the Lakers in a trade with the Houston Rockets earlier in the offseason, could start for Los Angeles in the upcoming season.
The 26-year-old point guard, who rose to fame with his so-called 'Linsanity' moment during his time with the New York Knicks, has already proved that he can contribute well if given the minutes.
Last season, Lin averaged 12.5 points to go along with 4.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds despite spending the majority of the season as backup point guard. With big minutes looming in his first season in Los Angeles, Lin is tipped to be an All-Star in the upcoming season.
According to a Jeremy Lin news from Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, there are great guards in the Western Conference like Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Tony Parker and Damian Lillard, but Lin's popularity in other countries combined with the strong support from LA Lakers fans could be enough for him to crack the starting lineup of the All-Star game.
"Even with so many talented point guards and shooting guards in the conference, don't be surprised if Jeremy Lin ends up being a starter for the West All-Star team come February," Kennedy wrote. "Before you do a spit take and call me crazy, hear me out. With the combined support of Los Angeles Lakers fans and international followers, Lin will certainly be in the mix for an All-Star nod."
Lin, who will be playing in the final year of his contract, said that he is very motivated to prove his worth next season in order to get a new lucrative deal.
The former Harvard University standout said that he is drawing inspiration from Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash, who have been working hard in training.
"I saw Kobe and Nash's on court performance. They look very active in scrimmages it's as if they were reborn" the four-year veteran said in a Jeremy Lin news on Dongtw via FanSided. "This actually has a huge effect on me. Seeing Nash and Kobe training almost like robots, I am very impressed. They clearly understand what they are here for & what to do. They finish their objectives and leave."
