Trader Joe's Sets Opening Date For Fourth Store Opening In Texas

| By

Trader Joe's is set to open its fourth store in the Dallas-Fort Worth location. The grocery will open at 8 a.m. on September 19 at Craig Drive in McKinney.

The grocery covers an area of 11,600 square-foot decorated with Trader Joe's signature cedar-walls and Hawaiian themes. Just like the tradition in other stores, the specialty store will feature murals throughout the location that pay homage to some landmarks and cultural icons in the community. According to the Dallas Business Journal, the McKinney store will display murals of Old McKinney Cotton Mill and Courthouse, Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary and Storybook Ranch Petting Zoo.

The opening ceremony will include lei cutting to welcome guests. The regional vice president Greg Paquet, McKinney's Mayor Brian Loughmiller, and the store manager from the Plano branch Donald O'Connor will grace the event.

Recently, there's been a rise in the number of specialty stores like Trader Joe's in the country. Forbes Magazine said that health-oriented grocers like this one attract young educated women, a demographic with the right amount of buying power. They enter the turfs of already established shopping centers such as Home Depot and Kohl's.

Besides Trader Joe's, Sprouts Farmers Market and Whole Foods Market are opening new stores in Texas. Whole Foods recently launched its 10th store in Denton County, while Sprouts opened its first grocery in Arlington, the fourth one in Texas in recent months.

Another specialty grocer is the Fresh Market which plans to set up store in Dallas, though no date of opening has been announced. Two more stores are planned for execution this year in Texas.

Trader Joe's set up its first store in North Texas in Dallas on August, complete with a Hawaiian-inspired luau party. The health-oriented grocer plans to open three more stores in the Dallas area.
