Ray Rice News: Janay Rice Blasts Media on Instagram; NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Speaks Up

| By

Janay Rice blasted the media in a Ray Rice news for portraying his husband as a bad man, while NFL Roger Goodell spoke about the controversial video for the first time.

TMZ Sports released a video on Monday showing how Ray Rice punched his then-fiancée Janay Palmer, which prompted the Baltimore Ravens to terminate the running back's contract, and the NFL to suspend the embattled player indefinitely.

Reacting to all Ray Rice news over the past several days, Janay Rice blasted all media outlets for ruining their life and his husband's football career just to gain rating.

"No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted [opinions] from the public has caused my family," Janay Rice posted on Instagram as reported by ESPN. "To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific."

In an interview, Ray Rice also expressed gratitude to all Ravens fans who are still supporting him despite the controversy, while also thanking his wife for being strong in the middle of all criticisms that they are getting.

"I have to be strong for my wife. She is so strong," Ray Rice said. "We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we'll continue to support each other."

Meanwhile, NFL commissioner Goodell insisted that the league did not see the video inside the elevator when they initially handed Ray Rice a two-game suspension last month.

In a Ray Rice news interview with CBS on Tuesday, Goodell said: "We had not seen any videotape of what occurred in the elevator. We assumed that there was a video, we asked for video, but we were never granted that opportunity."

When asked if the league would consider banning Rice for the rest of his career, Goodell, who was criticized for having a soft stance on Rice's case before, said that he is not ruling out that possibility.
